  • Publication number: 20030231108
Abstract: A vehicle is provided with front warning lights adjacent to the front corners of the vehicle. When the vehicle's brake is released, the lights adjacent to the front corner flash red to warn that the vehicle is about to move, or has begun to move. The lights can be coloured light emitting diodes within a lens, or the lens could be coloured red over a white light bulb. The front warning lights electrical circuit can be connected in parallel with the daytime running lights circuit, such that the front warning lights can only be activated when the ignition circuit is on. A release of the brake pedal deactivates the rear brake lights and completes electrical circuit to activate the red front warning lights.

  • Publication number: 20030229972
Abstract: A tie strap is provided that is releasable by means of an extended, resilient locking tab within an aperture within a terminal on the strap. The opposite end of the tie strap can be threaded through the aperture in order to tie wires and other objects. The extended resilient locking tab is affixed to the tie strap within the terminal. An extended end of the locking tab can be grasped and pivoted such that the tab's locking tip is pulled out of a groove between retaining ridges on the strap. The strap can then be pulled through the aperture to loosen or release the tie strap. The base of the tab is thickened to a buttress where it adjoins the strap such that the tab can return to a locking position with its tip between retaining ridges on the strap, upon the tab being released by the user, despite the tab having been released a plurality of times.

  • Patent number: 5807281
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an assembly (10) for detecting dilation of a cervix (74) of a pregnant female (78) at the onset of labor. The assembly (10) includes a ring-shaped element (16) in series with an enclosure (12) which encircles the cervix (74). The enclosure (12) contains a readily detectable fluid or particulate material (14). When the cervix (74) dilates at the onset of labor, the force of dilation is transmitted by the ring-shaped element (16) of the assembly (10) to the enclosure (12) and opens the enclosure (12) causing release of the material (14). The assembly (10) also includes a series of friction tabs (18) to keep the assembly (10) in place on the cervix (74).The method involves selecting an appropriately sized assembly (10), placing the assembly (10) on the cervix (74) of the pregnant female (78), and detecting the release of the material (14) which signals that labor has begun.

  • Patent number: 5312371
Abstract: A method of making a self-capping needle and catheter assembly (10) includes placing a needle hub (16) and cap (34) on a pin with the pin extending through the passageways (24, 35) thereof. Two sheets of polymeric material (62) are placed about the hub (16) and the cap (34) with their edges welded together producing a sleeve (64) connected between the hub (16) and the cap (34). The sleeve (64) is then permanently stretched to a predetermined length. The cap (34), hub (16) and sleeve (64) are then placed on a needle (28) and the cap (34) is moved against the hub (16) folding the sleeve (64) therebetween for reception of the catheter assembly (14).

  • Patent number: 4994041
Abstract: A disposable needle assembly (10) includes a hub (16) for connecting the assembly (10) to a fluid conduit, the hub (16) including a passageway (24) extending therethrough. A hollow needle portion (28) is in fluid communication with the passageway (24). A cap (34) has a neutral position along the needle portion (28) proximate to the hub (16) for exposing a length of the needle portion (28) and an extended position for capping the distal tip (32) of the needle (28). The cap (34) is reversibly seated in engagement with a catheter assembly as the needle portion (28) is disposed within a passageway of the catheter assembly whereby removal of the needle portion (28) from the passageway of the catheter assembly moves the cap (34) to the extended position capping the distal tip (32) as the cap (34) is unseated from the catheter assembly. The invention further provides a method of catherizing a patient using a disposable needle assembly (10).

  • Patent number: 4959056
Abstract: A digital dispenser aid device (10) of the type for use with a syringe (12) includes a housing (24). The syringe (12) can be fixedly mounted within a chamber (28) within the housing (24). A body member 54 includes a recessed portion (56) retaining the cap portion (22) of a plunger (20) therein. The body member (54) is moveable for drawing the plunger (20) of the barrel (14) to draw medicant into the barrel (14). A digital readout display is operatively connected to the body member (54) for projecting a digital output quantitating the amount of fluid drawn into the barrel (14) by movement of the plunger (20) axially out from the barrel (14).

  • Patent number: 4833733
Abstract: A surgical glove (10) includes a ventral side (12) and a dorsal side (14) integrally connected thereto. The sides (12,14) include a thin layer (16) of stretchable air and water impermeable material and the dorsal side (14) includes a layer (18) of flexible armor (18) embedded in the stretchable air and water impermeable material (16). A method of making the surgical glove (10) includes the steps of dipping a mold shell (24) having the configuration of a human hand with a ventral side and a dorsal side (30) into a liquid (34) which is curable to the stretchable air and water impermeable material (16). A hand shaped layer (18) of the flexible armor is disposed on the dorsal side (30) of the shell (24) prior to curing the liquid (34). The shell (24) is dipped into the liquid (34) a second time to embed the fiber (18) within the liquid (34). Finally, the liquid ( 34) is cured to the stretchable air and water impermeable material (16).
