    Abstract: A multispectral illumination device includes a main housing configured to be secured to a helmet and an illuminator head comprising a plurality of light sources, the plurality of light sources operable to emit light in multiple spectral regions. A selector is located on the main housing for actuating one or more of the light sources within the plurality of light sources that emit light in a selected one of the multiple spectral regions. A stalk passes through an opening in the main housing and has a first end coupled to the illuminator head and a second end opposite the first end received within the main housing. The stalk is slidable within the opening in the main housing to extend and retract the illuminator head toward and away from the housing, the stalk being slidable between a fully extended position and a fully retracted position.

    Abstract: A battery pack receiver assembly for detachably securing a battery pack to a helmet mounted device comprises a frame comprising a first battery pack engaging feature for engaging the battery pack. An interface plate comprises a second battery pack engaging feature. The frame is slidably coupled to the interface plate and movable between battery pack retaining and releasing positions. A biasing member is configured to bias the frame toward the battery pack retaining position. The frame is manually movable to the battery pack releasing position by a user grasping the battery pack. The second battery pack engaging feature is configured to positively retain the battery pack when the frame is in the battery pack retaining position and disengage with the battery pack when the frame is in the battery pack releasing position. Preferably, the apparatus is configured to permit one-handed battery pack replacement without removing the device from the helmet.

    Abstract: A headset mounting system comprises a side shroud configured to be attached to a side of a helmet, the side shroud including a mounting receptacle. A headset assembly has a mounting plug which is configured to be detachably coupled to the mounting receptacle. The mounting plug comprises a cylindrical stub having one or more lugs. A retaining collar is disposed within the mounting receptacle and has one or more slots formed therein. At least a portion of the mounting plug is configured to fit within the collar of the receptacle when the one or more lugs are aligned with the one or more slots. The plug is configured to be rotated within the collar so that the one or more lugs engage behind the collar to secure the plug within the receptacle. In a further aspect, a headset mounting interface is provided.

    Abstract: A self-modulating control valve for high pressure fluids, particularly gas in three interacting pressure chambers are provided in association with the main disc which includes two piston portions of different diameters, one of which operates as a spool valve to meter fluid flow through valving ports to a pressure stabilizing chamber formed in the main disc and also to the outlet side of the valve. Fluid flow to the pressure chamber which includes the large piston portion is through a metering orifice which drops the pressure in combination with unseating the valve, allowing the pressure in the chamber which includes the smaller of the piston portions to contribute the unseating forces for the main disc.

    Abstract: An easy-open beverage container with a non-detachable closure assembly includes a container body and integral end wall. In one embodiment, the end wall is formed to defined an opening through which the container contents can be dispensed and a threaded lip extends about the periphery of the opening. Another embodiment reveals that the wall contains a selectively separable region of predetermined weakness defining an openable panel in the wall. An opening and reseal cap has a depending threaded skirt adapted for operative engagement with the threaded lip of end wall. The cap can be threaded onto the lip to seal the can or unthreaded to open up the can for use. An arm is pivotally attached at one end to the can end wall and the cap is rotatably attached to the other end of the arm such that the cap is non-detachably mounted to the end wall through the arm. The cap can thus be unscrewed to open the container and the cap and arm pivoted to displace the cap from the opening for dispensing the container contents.

    Abstract: An easy-opening container of the type commonly used to contain beverages has an end wall that includes a score line and a hinge line with the score and hinge lines together defining a partially separable panel section of the end wall. A pull tab has a ring-shaped lift portion at one end, a finger at its other end and a mounting portion intermediate its ends. The pull tab is mounted at its mounting portion to the end wall adjacent the panel section with the lift portion extending from the mounting portion to overlie and partially frame the panel section and with the finger extending away from the panel section to overlie a portion of the end wall. A locking flange depends from the lift portion to lie in confronting relationship with at least a portion of the periphery of the panel section.

A pilot valve assembly is provided to control flow through the vent passageway. A means is provided for selectively actuating the pilot valve assembly. A discharge orifice is comprised in the main valve assembly for communicating the vent passageway with the outlet port. A vent valve assembly is disposed to control flow of fluid between the first chamber and the discharge orifice.

The openable member has an opening tab which is raised outwardly from the container wall, with the opening tab having a flange which overhangs at least part of the separable region. Finger pressure applied inwardly onto the opening tab toward the container wall causes the separable region to become ruptured, allowing the openable member to move inwardly with respect to the wall. Inward movement of the openable member is limited by the overhanging flange which contacts the periphery of the opening. The separated opening member is retained on the container wall and is then displaced to reveal an opening in the container wall for access to the contents of the container. Several openable members are disclosed which can reclose the opened container. The opening tab is be an integral part of the openable member.

    Abstract: A cover that overlies the opening tab on an easy open to shield the opening tab and underlying elements from accumulations of dirt or other foreign substances. The clean cover is mounted so as to be nondetachable from the opening tab or other structure of the container, so that the clean cover cannot become a separate item of litter. The clean cover is flexible and can be depressed or otherwise sufficiently manipulated with the tab as necessary to open the container, and may slide or otherwise move with the tab as part of the normal container-opening function. The clean cover may be physically attached to the opening tab, or may alternatively be attached to the container end panel on which the tab is mounted.

    Abstract: Easy-opening container wall structure having a non-removable and selectively separable openable member to which is attached an opening tab member. A portion of the opening tab member can be manually displaced outwardly from the container wall, thereby forcing another portion of the opening tab member against the container wall to initiate separation of the openable member. The opening tab member thereafter transmits inwardly-directed manual pressure to complete separation of the openable member, and to retain the opening tab member from unrestricted movement into the container. The periphery of the separated openable member co-acts with the periphery of the opening in the container wall to retain the separated openable member on the container.
