  • Patent number: 6821099
Abstract: A dual chamber or double sided rotary pump includes a stator housing and a rotor. The stator housing has an oblong inner surface. The rotor, which is disposed in the stator housing, has a substantially circular outer surface within which a plurality of vane slots are defined. A first chamber is defined between a first half of the oblong inner surface and the outer surface of the rotor. Similarly, a second chamber is defined between a second half of the oblong inner surface, diametrically opposite the first half, and the outer surface of the rotor. Resting within each of the plurality of vane slots is a corresponding sliding vane. A first inlet port and a first outlet port each provide access to the first chamber. Similarly, a second inlet port and a second outlet port each provide access to the second chamber. At least one of the vanes separates each of the first inlet port, the first outlet port, the second inlet port and the second outlet port from one another.

  • Publication number: 20040106831
Abstract: Washed cleavage product (WCP) in a phenol manufacturing process is treated to remove sodium ions. The WCP is contacted with a cation exchange resin in hydrogen form, and then with anion exchange resin in free base or hydroxide form, to produce a WCP essentially free of sodium ions. The cation and anion exchange resins are regenerated with acid and caustic, respectively. The treatment improves productivity and product quality of new and existing phenol processes.

  • Publication number: 20040011794
Abstract: A filter for absorbing ethylene gas and moisture and emitting carbon dioxide that can be removably coupled to a container. The container can have vent openings to allow air to circulate to prevent excess condensation, or the container can be any type of flexible, semirigid, or rigid produce container such as a plastic bag, a refrigerator or a typical plastic container. The contents of the filter are in vapor contact with the internal environment of the container such that it can absorb ethylene gas and moisture in the container and release carbon dioxide into the container to retard the ripening process of the produce stored in the container.

  • Patent number: 6138497
Abstract: A method for simultaneously measuring CO.sub.2, O.sub.2 and N.sub.2 gases dissolved in liquid includes a device for extracting the sample of gases from a container, such as a soft drink bottle, and a gas sample cell connected in fluid communication with the gas extracting device. The concentrations of CO.sub.2 and O.sub.2 gas in the gas sample are determined utilizing infrared (IR) absorption and phosphorescent quenching, respectively. The concentration of these respective gases is then converted to a partial pressure reading utilizing the temperature of the gas sample. The partial pressure of nitrogen gas in the sample is determined by measuring the total pressure of the gas sample and subtracting the partial pressures of the CO.sub.2 and O.sub.2 gas therefrom. The respective partial pressures of the CO.sub.2, O.sub.2 and N.sub.

  • Patent number: 5060394
Abstract: A tape measure 20 includes a display window 24 for presenting a digital presentation of the measurement being made. The tape measure 20 includes an encoder 74 which provides for a combined absolute scale 95 and relative scale 105 for determining the measurement. Perforations 62 in the tape 26 are mated with pins 60 extending from a capstan 58 in order to cause the encoder 74 to send signals to a microprocessor 76. The microprocessor 76 processes the signal and displays the measurement.
