  • Patent number: 8128149
Abstract: A system for securing a truck bed cover includes a pair of vertical side rails clamped to the bed railing of a pickup truck. A first one of a pair of horizontal side rails is attached along the front side of the truck bed and the second one of the pair of horizontal side rails is attachable via a latching mechanism along the rear. The cover is attached along respective front and rear edges to each of the horizontal side rails, and is attachable along respective side edges to the vertical side rails, preferably, using a hook-and-loop fastener. Tensioning devices are employed to keep the cover taut and even on both sides.

  • Patent number: 5243874
Abstract: A pair of telescoping members include interconnecting end portions having a preselected configuration that facilitates the insertion of one tubular end portion into the other tubular end portion. The surface configuration of the interconnecting end portions is complementary so that the surfaces on an inner member engage the surfaces on the outer member to permit the transmission of rotation from one telescoping member to the other while permitting relative longitudinal movement therebetween. The inner and outer connecting members are spaced apart to form an annulus therebetween and provide a degree of tolerance greater than the tolerance provided with conventionally machined telescoping connecting end portions. The tolerance is taken up by the injection of a thermosetting resinous material at an elevated temperature into the annulus, completely filling the annulus.

  • Patent number: 4736818
Abstract: A device for lubricating rails is mounted on a track maintenance truck. A pair of heated grease cannisters are mounted in the truck bed along with an air compressor for powering the pneumatic components of the lubricator. A pair of applicator arms have nozzles which apply the grease in a bead to the rails. Valves operated by pneumatic cylinders control the flow of grease to the applicator arms. A special frame attached to the rail gear on the rear bumper of the truck rotatively supports a pair of coaxial shafts on which the arms are carried. Independent pneumatic cylinders rotate the shafts to move the applicator arms between a lowered operating position for applying grease and a raised position in which the arms extend horizontally when not in use. Each arm can be manually moved to and latched in an upright position for over the road travel of the truck.

  • Patent number: 4597748
Abstract: Gauze pads ready for packaging are formed by drawing web material from a roll and then folding the same longitudinally into a vertical attitude. Nip rolls driven at a controlled rate, draw the web from a folding station and then into an air stream which is directed horizontally at the vertical web where a tensionless loop is maintained. The web then passes through a vertical support guide and then to a folding station where reciprocating blades push the web alternately right and left, the alternations being held against side plates by flexible wire pads to prevent the fold from being pulled out by the next alternation of direction. The folded web is then pushed past a cutter by successive alternations of added material, the now cut pads being further pushed into diverging trays for packaging.

  • Patent number: 4590622
Abstract: A protective gear assembly includes cantilever-type protective pads to be used by those athletes engaged in contact sports such as football, hockey, etc. The pads are releasably attached to a one piece padded vest type jacket by strap like members which pass through apertures thereon. The vest jacket is designed to receive all the necessary elements in the protective gear assembly such as epaulettes, padded cups, back plates shoulder plates and breast plates.

  • Patent number: 4492564
Abstract: A radiant gas burner construction is disclosed which utilizes a gas combustion mixture plenum closed on one side by a porous refractory matrix. The matrix is supported in the plenum by a plurality of clamping clips that extend about the marginal edge of the matrix and have inturned lips that engage the edge thereof, the clips being fastened to the external portion of the plenum. Non-combustible gas supply enclosures are provided that discharge a non-combustible gas around the edge of the combustion gas plenum by using plates that are spaced slightly away from the edge of the combustion gas plenum so that the non-combustible gas will be discharged down along the side of the gas plenum and then toward the free edge of the matrix adjacent the burning face thereof, or alternately into the edge of the matrix below the supporting clips so that an air seal is provided around the peripheral portion of the matrix.
