  • Publication number: 20110112948
Abstract: A computer program that can be installed on a web server to assemble web pages that can be accessed over the Internet by password to prepare financial planning reports for a client. The program takes gross income, subtracts income taxes, subtracts all money put into savings programs, and whatever is left is what the client spends in a given year or month. It further itemizes and subtracts the monthly payments for debt service since these items will be fully amortized or paid off at some point in the future and should not be included in baseline living expenses that will continue through a person's lifetime. The balance left after these calculations are completed represents the individual's current annual living expenses or standard of living that needs to be sustained throughout their lifetime with adjustments for inflation.

  • Patent number: 6742314
Abstract: A hollow working pole such as a luminaire pole is repaired by cutting the pole above ground level and inserting a sleeve. The sleeve is maintained in position while grout is poured to fill the space between the sleeve and the inner surfaces of the pole base. The top portion of the pole, previously removed, are replaced and grout is poured into the circumferential space between the insert and the inner surfaces of the upper portion of the pole.

  • Patent number: 6132435
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device for limiting the maximum torque that is applied to a screw during a surgical procedure. The driving connection between the input and output shafts of the device is established through a plurality of transmission balls, which are maintained in position by the action of an elastic element within the torque limiting device. When the counter-torque created by the resistance of the screw exceeds the torque exerted by the elastic element, the transmission balls are caused to be disengaged, thereby severing the driving connection between the input and output shafts and preventing overtightening of the screw. The present torque limiter can be fully sterilized by autoclaving, as required for use in a surgical setting.

  • Patent number: 5613580
Abstract: A plurality of embodiments of dual-rate linear dampers which can be utilized as hold open rods. These dampers provide significantly greater resistance to movement in one direction than in the other and, in the claimed embodiment, effectively lock in the hold open position unless and until the design breakover force is incurred. A second spring causes axial compression and, hence, radial bulging, of a first spring causing a inner cylindrical member to be locked in position relative to an outer cylindrical housing. An actuator includes a first rod that extends through the inner cylindrical member, and a second rod portion that is biased by a third spring to a non-engaging position relative to the first rod. A laterally extending lever can be manually engaged to overcome the bias of the second and third springs to unload the first spring significantly reducing the resistance force enabling the relative positions of the inner and outer cylindrical members to be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 5535861
Abstract: A plurality of embodiments of dual-rate linear dampers which can be utilized as hold open rods. These dampers provide significantly greater resistance to movement in one direction than in the other and, in one embodiment, effectively lock in the hold open position unless and until the design breakover force is incurred. The comparative resistance to movement in the two linear directions can be altered within the range of between five and ten times the force in the resistive embodiment by varying a number of parameters including, but not limited to, the number of disks in the string, the thickness of the disk flange, the number and depth of grooves in one or both surfaces of the flange, the tapering of the flange, and the properties of the elastomer.

  • Patent number: 4428247
Abstract: A simple change gear transmission utilizing an improved clutch structure and/or an improved idler structure to provide compounded countershafts is provided. The improved clutch structure involves the use of axially adjacent tube clutch members (76, 90) operated by side-by-side shift forks (86, 100) to selectively clutch one at a time four axially adjacent mainshaft gears (50, 52, 54, 56) to a mainshaft (18). Compound countershaft (16) comprising a forward portion (20) and a rearward portion (22) are provided for increasing the number and/or range of gear ratios. A combination tube clutch-idler shaft (108) is utilized to provide increased reduction to the rearward countershaft portion for first gear and reverse gear operation of the transmission.
