  • Patent number: 4122489
Abstract: A signal defect compensator is provided which develops a replacement video signal for use during a signal dropout. The replacement video comprises video image information from the horizontal lines both before and after the line on which the dropout occurs, the replacement video being obtained by summing video from a current scanning line with video from a channel including a 2H delay, the video channel further including means for insuring the chroma portion of the replacement video being of the proper phase.

  • Patent number: 4109276
Abstract: In a television signal synchronizer having a coherent memory, it is necessary to modify the writing of data into memory or the reading of data out of memory in order to provide field conversion. In the described apparatus, the reading out of data is always done according to a non-variant sequence determined by the local (studio) reference timing signals. In a first embodiment the read address generator signals are modified so as to read out the stored video signal in accordance with the non-variant write in sequence. In a second embodiment the write address generator signals are modified so as to position the incoming video signal into memory so that it is located in the proper memory position for the non-variant read out sequence.

  • Patent number: 4101926
Abstract: Television synchronizer apparatus includes a coherent memory with preassigned fixed burst phasing of 0.degree. or 180.degree. for each line store of color video image information. The incoming synchronizing components including burst are discarded on the premise that they are well-known repetitive functions. The incoming color video image information is read into the memory coherent with the preassigned burst phasing, thereby significantly reducing the memory storage capacity normally utilized to store sync and burst information.

  • Patent number: 4030118
Abstract: Colored light from a scene is spatially encoded onto a photosensitive surface by a striped spatial color encoding filter assembly. The filter assembly comprises a plurality of superimposed gratings for encoding a plurality of colors, at least one grating having its stripes disposed angularly from the direction of scanning lines on the photosensitive surface such that a color representative carrier wave of different phase is produced during successive scanning intervals. The plurality of color representative carrier waves produced by scanning of the imaged gratings on the photosensitive surface may have the same frequency during any line scanning interval thus minimizing the spectrum required to convey full color information, and are separated from each other by comb filter apparatus for producing different color representative signals.

  • Patent number: 4024571
Abstract: A synchronizing system separates the synchronizing components from a composite video signal into signal components representing horizontal sync and color burst. The leading edge of the horizontal sync component is used to develop a timing signal which is compared with the positive and negative averaged burst signal from a band pass filter tuned to the burst frequency. Comparators drive respective flip-flops arranged to provide both negative and positive burst signal outputs at a selected burst signal crossover near the end of the original burst signal.A gate circuit coupled to the flip-flop output terminals develops a line start signal which contains the leading edge of the incoming signal sync information corrected to a selected color burst. The synchronizing circuit also provides a substitute signal in the absence of the color burst component to maintain system synchronization.

  • Patent number: 4021852
Abstract: A system is provided for compensating for signal defects such as dropouts in recorded television signals. A recovered video signal is delayed for a period of substantially one scanning line, and the delayed signal is coupled to two channels, one for the luminance and scan synchronizing information and the other for the color information. The color information is phase-reversed each time it is delayed so as to provide a proper phase relationship when reinserting the delayed information into the signal path. The two channels are recombined to provide a compensating signal which is substituted for the original video signal during a dropout.
