  • Patent number: 4121130
Abstract: An insulating substrate is provided with a plurality of discrete electrode pads on a surface thereof. A thermionic line cathode, e.g., a directly heated filament, is positioned to one side of the substrate surface and extends across a surface of each one of the electrode pads. An apertured electrode is positioned in spaced relation to the cathode in a direction away from the surfaces of the electrode pads. The apertured electrode may include a single slit-shaped aperture or a plurality of colinear apertures. The structure may also include a pair of spaced parallel filter plates whose surfaces are disposed in parallel relation to the longitudinal axis of the line cathode and in orthogonal relation to the surfaces of the electrode pads. The filter plates function to collimate the electron flow emitted from the cathode.

  • Patent number: 4100449
Abstract: A line electron filament is provided which is cylindrically shaped and substantially uniform in cross section about its longitudinal axis. The filament can be of the type known as directly heated or of the type known as indirectly heated. The uniformity of the filament is obtained through cataphoretic deposition in a rotating cylindrical tube. The filament is useful as a cathode in a display which employs space charge limited emission operation.

  • Patent number: 4032338
Abstract: A holographic recording medium comprising a conductive substrate, a photoconductive layer and an electrically alterable layer of a linear, low molecular weight hydrocarbon polymer has improved fatigue resistance. An acrylic barrier layer can be interposed between the photoconductive and electrically alterable layers.

  • Patent number: 4026780
Abstract: An elongated cylindrical conductive body is cataphoretically coated with insulating material. The coating is substantially uniform in thickness. The method includes the use of a rotating cylindrical tube which is substantially filled with a suspension of the material to be deposited. The cylindrical body is disposed with its major axis along the longitudinal axis of the tube. An electric field is provided inside the tube which is radially symmetrical about the longitudinal axis of the tube. Homogeneity of the suspension is maintained by rotating the tube at constant rates and by orienting the longitudinal axis of the tube orthogonally to the force of gravity. The method can be used to construct a line electron filament which is substantially uniform in cross section about its longitudinal axis. Such a filament is particularly useful as a cathode in a display which employs space charge limited emission operation.
