  • Patent number: 7608059
Abstract: There is disclosed a flow control apparatus comprising a housing adapted to load an administration feeding set, and a means for driving fluid through the administration feeding set operatively engaged through the housing and adapted to engage tubing of the administration feeding set. A single motor source is operatively engaged to the means for driving fluid, such as a rotor, and adapted to be engaged to a means for controlling fluid flow, such as a valve mechanism. The single motor source is adapted to control operation of the means for driving fluid or the means for controlling fluid flow through a gear arrangement. The gear arrangement is operatively engaged with the single motor source and the means for driving fluid, as well as adapted to operatively engage the means for controlling fluid flow, and is adapted to non-simultaneously operate the means for driving fluid or the means for controlling fluid flow using a microprocessor that controls operation of at least the single motor source.

  • Patent number: 6639332
Abstract: A foot controller 32 for use with ophthalmic surgical equipment 34 includes a foot controller 32 having a door 18. Door 18 covers a surgical switch 24 when door 18 is in a closed position, and door 18 is a shroud for a surgical switch 24 when door 18 is in an open position. A door-position sensor 48 disables activation of the surgical switch 24, except when the door is in an open position.

  • Patent number: 5971580
Abstract: The present invention is an electronic awareness system for evaluating, monitoring, and controlling, in real-time, an outside environment having entities and occurrences with characteristics. The electronic monitoring system includes input sensors for receiving real-time data produced by the entities, a computer workstation for storing the input data in a database, a computer program having a graphical user interface for interfacing a user with the workstation and the computer program. The graphical user interface comprises a map frame chart function, a worksheet function, a utility function, and a priority navigator function for monitoring and evaluating the input data graphically, tabularly, statistically, and comparatively with a predetermined relative priority scale, respectively, for producing output data. The electronic awareness system also includes output reactors for receiving the output data for controlling certain entities and occurrences of the outside environment.
