  • Patent number: 10776133
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for preemptively loading code dependencies are described. In some systems, an application server—which may be a software component of a user device—may perform a loading process for an application framework module (e.g., based on receiving an execution request for a corresponding application). To reduce the latency of loading the framework module, the application server may perform one or more preemptive non-framework network requests to retrieve code dependencies for the framework or the application code. These requests may be sent prior to the framework loading process, or in parallel with the framework loading process. The application server may receive the code dependencies in response, and may store these dependencies in a memory cache. When the framework loading process needs these code dependencies, the application server may efficiently access the dependencies locally in the memory cache rather than remotely requesting the dependencies over the network.

  • Patent number: 9756122
Abstract: In one embodiment, in a hierarchy of nodes, a master node having two or more child nodes obtains from the two or more child nodes two or more sets of data samples or summaries associated therewith, the two or more sets of data samples being representative of traffic processed via two or more sets of servers corresponding to the two or more child nodes, wherein a size of each of the two or more sets of data samples is proportional to an allocation of traffic among the two or more sets of servers corresponding to the two or more child nodes. Each of the two or more sets of data samples is obtained from a different one of the two or more child nodes and represents traffic processed by a corresponding one of the two or more sets of servers. The master node combines the two or more sets of data samples or summaries associated therewith such that a combined set of data is generated. The master node ascertains a numerical value from the combined set of data.

  • Patent number: 8555367
Abstract: A system and method for securely streaming media. The system includes a gateway server that receives requests for access to a secured data resource from an end users. The request include an authorization ticket and a referring website. The gateway server validates the authorization ticket using a secret key shared with the referring website, and validates the referring website by verifying that referring website is on a white-list for the secured data resource. The gateway server selects a data server to service the request, and formats a data server access request containing the data server location and data server request parameter data and transmits the data server access request to the end users. When end users transmit the data server access requests to a data server, the data server validates the request and transmits it to the end user.

  • Publication number: 20100161414
Abstract: A system and method for providing advertisements via one or more computer systems is provided. According to one embodiment, a method for displaying advertisements is provided that includes acts of associating classification information, such as tags, with an advertisement, receiving a request to present the content classified by the classification information and providing the at least one advertisement in association with the content. According to another embodiment, a system for displaying advertisements is provided that includes a controller configured to associate classification information, such as tags, with an advertisement, receive a request to present the content classified by the classification information and provide the at least one advertisement in association with the content.

  • Publication number: 20060099857
Abstract: The EZ-Connect 2-Way Splitter design is to improve the ascetic appearance of an installed coaxial cable on F-type wall plate, which will direct the coaxial cable parallel, which could be identified as down the wall, up the wall, or to the left or right when connected to the coaxial cable wall plate. The invention is designed in injected molded ABS plastic, the intended design being a right angle being a 2-way splitter, with a PCB circuitry design, where 2 female F-type connectors, miscellaneous resistors and caps, which meet cable video band or radio frequency (RF). With one F-type male push on connector, placed within an injected molded ABS case.

  • Publication number: 20040200126
Abstract: A method of establishing a fishing line with a breakaway feature includes connecting a first end of a rope to underwater gear and attaching its second end to a breakaway connector without using or having to form a noose or a closed loop in the second end of the rope. The second end is inserted through a passage of the breakaway connector on one side of a breakaway element disposed in the passage, and passed back on the opposite side. When either end of the rope is pulled, a bent section of the rope comes to rest on the breakaway element. Further pulling the rope applies a load on the breakaway element which will break when the load reaches a predetermined level, allowing the rope to slip through the passage. Thus, the rope is completely released, without carrying at the second end thereof a noose or a closed loop which might be caught, e.g., in the mouth of a marine mammal.

  • Patent number: 6779294
Abstract: A method of establishing a fishing line comprises the steps of attaching attachment openings of a breakable link to a surface buoy and underwater gear, and disconnecting the surface buoy from the underwater gear by irrecoverably breaking the wall of one of the attachment openings at a weakened portion thereof, without breaking a join portion connecting the attachment openings. The weakened portion extends circumferentially from 150° to 210°, i.e. for about a half of an entire circumference of the associated attachment opening. The thickness and/or material failure load of the weakened portion is from 50 to 70% of the thickness and/or material failure load of the remaining elements of the breakable link. The connecting portions may be rigidly integrated with each other, or pivotably attached via the join portion.

  • Publication number: 20030192044
Abstract: This invention teaches a next generation system and method for filtering the content of media events such a commercial movies distributed for home viewing. A content filter, separate from the medium containing the event to be filtered, applied while such viewing occurs, is taught. In some embodiments, the content filter is controlled by a preference control device while viewing occurs, allowing the viewer to adjust the content in much the same manner that sound, volume, or color can be adjusted while watching television. Sophisticated content filters which contain multiple subfilters from a plurality of authors and which apply a plurality of editing strategies, giving the viewer far more control over the content to be viewed, are taught. Filters for a number of varied purposes are taught, including both filters for offensive content and filters to adjust the contents to suit the needs and preferences of handicapped viewers.
