  • Patent number: 7627767
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for remotely securing data in a wireless device. A user sends a data message containing instructions for securing data to a remotely located wireless device. Securing data includes recovering data, purging data, locking the wireless device, and locating the wireless device within a communications network. After the data message is sent, a determination is then made as to whether the wireless device is active in the communications network. If the wireless device is active, the data message is sent to the wireless device. If the wireless device is inactive, the data message is temporarily stored in a database until the wireless device is determined to be active. An application program resident on the wireless device is executed upon receiving the data message to secure the data. The data message also includes instructions for retrieving data for identifying an owner of the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20060181066
Abstract: A method of operating a sensor system includes the steps of determining whether any of a plurality of sensors are malfunctioning in response to a physical stimulus on a vehicle, determining whether an outcome of the first step is plausible based upon expected physical stimuli, and determining whether to execute a decision, such as deploy a vehicle occupant restraint, or fail the sensor if it is producing signals beyond expected physical limits. The decision is executed if it is plausible and not executed if it is not plausible.

  • Publication number: 20060052925
Abstract: A method of estimating values beyond sensor limits accurately and simply includes the initial step of determining an actual slope utilizing measured data. An estimated slope is then determined as a percentage of the actual slope to provide an estimation of data values outside of the sensor limits until measured values return to within sensor limits. The estimation method according to this invention increases sensor range without sacrificing resolution with a desired accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20050203689
Abstract: An air bag system (12) provides a central controller (14), a multiple of satellite sensors (16) and a multiple of deployable air bags (18). The central controller (14) runs the impact event algorithms. The number of satellites which are allowed to activate algorithms at any one time is limited. The minimum number of satellites required for full protection is the maximum number of satellite sensors allowed to wake up an impact event algorithm at any one time. An order for algorithm wake is also specified since the number of algorithms allowed is less than the total number of satellite sensors.

  • Publication number: 20050017487
Abstract: An air bag system (12) includes a controller (14), a remote satellite sensor (16), a deployable air bag (18), and a vehicle speed sensor (24). Controller logic for deployment discrimination of an impact event for an airbag deployment command is sensitized when the vehicle is moving and desensitized when the vehicle is stationary.

  • Publication number: 20050004729
Abstract: A vehicle safety system (20) includes a controller (24) that verifies the plausibility of a roll angle indication obtained by processing a roll angular rate sensor (26) output. The controller (24) determines whether an acceleration value corresponding to the roll angle indication is within an expected range. In a disclosed example, the controller (24) utilizes a vertical acceleration value and a first expected range and a lateral acceleration value and a second expected range. When both of the acceleration values are outside of the respective expected range, the controller determines that the roll angle indication is invalid.
