Publication number: 20240248591Abstract: A method and system for inputting a user rating in an electronically-presented space is disclosed. A user may position icons, which represent items for rating, in the electronically-presented space. For example, the user may position, using a mouse, the icons on a 2-D area on a display screen in order to rate the icons. Responsive to the positioning, the system may identify the positions of the icons, such as the positions of the icon within the 2-D area on the display screen, in order to determine the rating, such as a relative rating or an absolute rating. In this way, the method and system disclose a straightforward and simple way for users to input user preference in the electronically-presented space.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2023Publication date: July 25, 2024Applicant: OptionLab Inc.Inventors: Ethan R. Patent number: 10965093Abstract: Methods and systems enabling the real-time monitoring of a light-induced procedure in a biological medium, and/or the acquisition of information related to this biological medium are provided. In some implementations, the light beam used for the procedure is modulated at a modulation frequency selected in view of the photoacoustic frequency response associated with the procedure. The photoacoustic feedback signal from the medium during the procedure is then monitored. This monitoring may involve filtering the photoacoustic feedback signal around the selected feedback modulation frequency. Ratiometric comparisons of the contribution of different frequencies to the photoacoustic feedback signal are also considered.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2018Date of Patent: March 30, 2021Assignee: INSTITUT NATIONAL D'OPTIQUEInventors: Robert B. Brown, Suzie Dufour, Pascal Gallant, Ozzy Mermut, Pascal Deladurantaye

Patent number: 5969971Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming a three-dimensional article includes dispensing build material and thermally normalizing predetermined portions thereof at predetermined intervals during construction of the article. The thermal energy may be provided by a heated body advanced adjacent to or in contact with the surface portions. Thermal energy may also be supplied by a radiation source. The thermal normalization may be performed after a predetermined number of successive layers are dispensed. Related methods are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1996Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: BPM Technology, Inc.Inventors: Robert B. Brown, Charles F. Kirschman, Herbert E. Patent number: 5936187Abstract: A stemming plug constructed from a durable, resilient material and comprising a circumferential wall defining an inner cavity, an end wall at the first end and an open second end. In the preferred embodiment, the circumferential wall is fluted so that it can easily compress and seat in a borehole while maintaining a snug friction fit. The plug is inserted in the borehole over the explosive charge. Stemming material, preferably rock, is placed on top of the plug. The stemming material covers the top and slides down around the circumferential wall and is lodged between the circumferential wall and the borehole. Upon explosion, the blast energy is forced into the inner cavity causing the circumferential wall to expand outwardly and thereby engaging the stemming material and the borehole wall to secure the plug in place. The stemming material can also be placed inside the plug, with blast energy inverting the plug end wall to wedge stemming material within the borehole.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1997Date of Patent: August 10, 1999Assignee: MOCAP IncorporatedInventors: Joseph T. Miller, Robert B. Brown

Patent number: 5859775Abstract: A three-dimensional article making apparatus includes a build material dispenser for dispensing build material based upon the article defining data, and a deviation sensor for sensing a deviation during construction of the article. The apparatus may operate the build material dispensing means to adjust or recover for a sensed deviation during construction of the article. A portion of dispensed build material may be removed responsive to a sensed deviation. In addition, the deviation sensor may be operated a plurality of times during construction of the article, and a portion of dispensed build material may be removed down to a previous desired article portion. The deviation sensor may be provided by article formation deviation sensor, a build material dispenser sensor, an article defining data deviation sensor, and/or a build rate deviation sensor. The article deviation sensor may cooperate with a heated electrically conductive body used to periodically dimensionally normalize the article.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1996Date of Patent: January 12, 1999Assignee: BPM Technology, Inc.Inventors: William Berdell Barlage, III, James Richard Asbury, Robert B. Patent number: 5717599Abstract: A three-dimensional article making apparatus includes a build material dispenser positioned adjacent a platform for ejecting a plurality of droplets of build material; and dispenser positioners for relatively positioning the dispenser in five degrees of freedom with respect to the platform. Accordingly, the dispenser may be rotated and flipped to permit construction of a cantilevered portion of an article without requiring support material. The dispenser positioners include a Z-direction positioner for positioning the dispenser vertically relative to the platform, an X-Y positioner for positioning the dispenser in an X-Y planar direction relative to the platform, a flip angle positioner for rotatably positioning the dispenser relative to a generally horizontal axis, and a phi angle positioner for rotatably positioning the dispenser relative to a generally vertical axis.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1994Date of Patent: February 10, 1998Assignee: BPM Technology, Inc.Inventors: Herbert E. Menhennett, Jon N. Leonard, John R. Larsen, Robert B. Brown, Manual M. Ferreira, William B. Barlage, III, Charles F. Kirschman

Patent number: 5633021Abstract: A three-dimensional article making apparatus includes a processor operatively connected to a dispenser and positioner for constructing the article based upon the article defining data. The processor operates the dispenser to construct an enlarged surface of a first article portion to thereby define an enhanced target landing point area for dispensed droplets of build material for constructing a second article portion adjacent the first article portion. The enhanced target landing point area permits a slight misalignment or error that may occur between adjacent article portions. The processor also avoids shadowing during construction of the article by operating the dispenser to construct third and fourth adjacent article portions so that a dispensing path for constructing the third article portion is unobstructed by a previously constructed part of the fourth article portion. Related methods are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 1994Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: BPM Technology, Inc.Inventors: Robert B. Brown, Charles F. Kirschman
