  • Patent number: 4679622
Abstract: A multitube heat exchanger is provided with a take-apart fitting. The fitting is coupled to one end of the exchanger product tube. A cap ring is secured to the inner tube of the exchanger. An end cap adapted to seal against the cap ring is secured to the fitting. A split ring clamp serves to urge the end cap against the cap ring by virtue of a chamfered surface on the clamp urging against a complementary chamfer of the end cap.

  • Patent number: 3938233
Abstract: An improved header construction for a heat transfer apparatus of the type utilizing a plurality of concentric, longitudinally extending tubes including an inner tube, an intermediate tube and an outer tube with the intermediate tube extending beyond the outer tube and the inner tube extending beyond the intermediate tube. The header includes sealing members for the intermediate and outer tubes. Each sealing member is butt welded at one end to its associated tube. The other end of the sealing members defines a radially inwardly directed sanitary radius which is welded to an outwardly directed sanitary radius formed in a band which, in turn, is welded to the next innermost tube section. The method of assembling a header in accordance with the above is also provided.

  • Patent number: 3934821
Abstract: A bulk tank cooling and storage apparatus has heat exchange surfaces substantially covering the side and end walls of the tank. The tank is supplied with a horizontal rotating disc liquid distributor which uniformly distributes the liquid in a sheet over the heat exchange surfaces so that it flows downwardly over the surfaces in a thin film and is cooled by heat exchange operating in cooperation with the heat exchange surfaces. Even distribution of the liquid is provided by the rotating disc distributor which expels liquid from the periphery of the rotating disc and propels the liquid against the walls of the tank. Liquid fed into the tank is directed to the center of the rotating disc where a cylindrical dam or well holds a reservoir of the liquid and distributes it on the surface of the disc. The periphery of the disc may have a knife edge which helps the film of liquid to flow off smoothly without atomization.
