  • Patent number: 5497884
Abstract: In a packet containing a plurality of dual tab merchandising bags, each bag includes a front panel, a rear panel, each side of said bag between the front and rear panels including, a front gusset folded from the front panel, a rear gusset folded from the rear panel, the front and rear gussets joined at a common gusset fold to form an endless tube of bag material around the periphery of said bag. The bags are sealed and severed at the bottom and open and severed at the top, and collapsed and folded one on another so that said gusset sides are folded upon themselves and collapsed under and between the bag front and rear panels. Handle holes are provided centrally of said front and rear panels adjacent said open top of the bag. Tabs are adjacent the sides of the bags at the top of the bag, the tabs having a first portion overlying the gussets and a second portion overlying the central portion of the bag between the gussets, these tabs fused together to form said packet of bags.

  • Patent number: 5348399
Abstract: The bags may be sculptured with a wave pattern defining a periphery of the corner regions on either side of the mouth of the bag. The bags may be secured to two tabs which are connected to the corner regions via the wave pattern, which is perforated. By attaching the tabs to a carton and pulling the bag, the bag severs cleanly from the tabs at the waveform perforation.

  • Patent number: 5338118
Abstract: A plastic bag having an aperture serving as a handle which has a contour of peaks and valleys. The peaks fold in an accordion-like manner when pressed by fingers to cushion the fingers. A T-shirt style bag has strap handles whose juncture with the mouth of the bag has a wave form configuration of peaks and valleys. A dispensing rack having two support arms which hold open a plastic bag either by notches, bends or sleeves. The plastic bag has opposing pairs of aligned apertures whose contour has peaks and valleys. The support arms are inserted each through are respective pair of aligned apertures.

  • Patent number: 5269416
Abstract: A rack for the counter suspension of various packets of dual tab merchandising bags, which includes a depending panel supported from the top. The depending panel has a front plane surface interrupted with a plurality of bag dispensing apertures. The rear and counter exposed side of each aperture has a short horizontal shelf which protrudes away from the front of the panel. The shelf includes two stanchions, one at each side of the shelf.

  • Patent number: 5013290
Abstract: A method for producing a serialized bundle of thermoplastic T-shirt grocery bags which serially open upon being dispensed. Specifically, a bag being removed from the serialized bundle of thermoplastic T-shirt grocery bags mounted on a dispensing rack automatically opens an immediately following and trailing bag. The bags of the serialized bundle are coextruded to have at least two layers, an inside layer having a low coefficient of friction and an outside layer having a high coefficient of friction. A relatively low coefficient of friction between two inside layers allows each bag to easily open; a relatively high coefficient of friction between the outside layers allows a leading bag to entrain a trailing bag. Entraining structures are provided into and between the respective bags which permit the bags to be keyed together at their high friction outside layers and separate at their low friction inside layers.

  • Patent number: 5011466
Abstract: A T-shirt type grocery bag having a tear-off coupon provided during manufacture. An endless tube of blown thermoplastic is collapsed and printed, including printing for the coupon indicia. The bag is "W" folded forming side for the to-be-formed bag. The folded tube is heat sealed and cut, forming sealed incremental folded tubes. Cutting operations form a bag bottom and produce paired handles on opposing sides of an opening. The definition of this opening also provides a coupon proximate the bag opening. Preferably, the coupon formed lies between the W-folds and its orientation does not permit interference with a bag dispensing structure, such as tabs and wickets. Other embodiments include coupons for thermoplastic bags lacking paired handles and coupons for bags lacking some of the dispensing structures.

  • Patent number: 4821985
Abstract: A rack for the counter edge mounting, loading and dispensing of plastic T-shirt grocery bags is disclosed. The bags are of the type formed from an endless tube of plastic having the sides of the bag with a "W" fold. The bottom and the top of the bag are sealed with the top portion cut away to define paired outside bag handles and a bag opening therebetween. The supporting rack includes a flat bottom defining a loading surface on which the sealed bottom of the grocery bag is supported during loading. A vertical or back member extends upwardly from rear portion of the loading surface and has at the topo a wicket supporting protrusion preferably a ball at the end of a wire at the end of a rod. The wicket supporting surface is for supporting bag wall tabs fused together in a wicket. The wicket holding a group of overlying bags together for sequential dispensing and loading. The rack includes a novel second U-shaped member also supported from the vertical member and placed below the first U-shaped member.

  • Patent number: 4759639
Abstract: The present invention relates to thermoplastic bags which are characterized by two perforated tabs symetrically attached to the front and back walls at the mouth of the bag. Using a sculptured bag or any of several thermoplastic bag structures currently in use (handled or flush-cut; gussetted or flat), the configuration of the two tabs is such that it enables the user to easily open and load the bag while the mouth remains open and the bag in place. Additionally, the placement of the two tabs permits easy loading of a unitary pack on dispensing holders, including armless stands, resulting in more efficient use of time and space by retail users. The placement and scallop design of the tab perforations create stress transfer tips which distribute stress away from creases and slit-seals at the open mouth, preventing tearing or zippering at the mouth of the bag where stress concentration is most likely and permitting greater use of slit-seals and corresponding reduced costs of manufacture.
