  • Publication number: 20210187718
Abstract: A method determines a presence of a motor-driven tool inside a tool position region and/or a tool position of the tool. A transmitter is mechanically connected to the tool, wherein the transmitter wirelessly transmits a signal. The transmitted signal is attenuated by the tool and has an item of transmitter information for taking the attenuation into account. The method has the steps of: capturing a respective reception signal strength value of the transmitted signal at receivers, wherein the receivers are arranged at different receiver positions; and determining the presence of the tool inside the tool position region and/or the tool position of the tool on the basis of the captured reception signal strength values and the received transmitter information for taking the attenuation into account.

  • Patent number: 9423437
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement for identifying a switching position of a switch (on an internal combustion engine in a handheld work apparatus. An energy source for supplying power to an inductive electrical load is provided, it being possible to connect the load to the energy source in order to be switched on and off via a controller. The switch is arranged in a voltage branch which is connected in parallel with the inductive load and in which a zener diode is also connected. The zener diode is activated or inactivated via the switch as a function of the switching position of the switch. The amplitude of the switch-off voltage, which is induced when the inductive load is disconnected, is limited by the zener diode, so that it is possible to read from the magnitude of the amplitude whether the switch is closed or open.

  • Patent number: 8836471
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable handheld work apparatus such as a cutoff machine, motor-driven chain saw, brushcutter, blower apparatus or the like. The apparatus includes a drive motor (2) for driving a work tool (6) and is provided with a security circuit (20). The security circuit (20) switches the drive motor (2) of the work apparatus into an operational-ready state or into an out-of-service state in dependence upon received signals of a receiver unit (18). The receiver unit is configured to receive at least one operating code. The receiver unit (18) is configured for receiving a service code (27) and, with the receipt of a service code, switches the drive motor into only a temporary service state.

  • Publication number: 20120185154
Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a combustion engine with an ignition unit, a unit for supplying fuel and a device to determine the rotational speed (n). The ignition unit includes a spark plug, a coil and a pole group. The pole group and the coil are moved in dependence on the rotational movement of a crankshaft of the combustion engine, whereby a ignition voltage is induced in the coil. The work apparatus has an open loop control which controls the ignition time (ZZP). A diagnostic unit for damage diagnosis is detachably connected to the work apparatus. For damage diagnosis, the diagnostic unit captures the course of the induced ignition voltage over at least one engine cycle when the combustion engine is running and damage is determined on the basis of the course of the captured voltage.
