  • Patent number: 5531622
Abstract: A quick disconnect leash for a surfboard or the like consists of a resilient cord affixed at one end to an object such as a surfboard and a securing strap attached to the opposite end for securing the leash to the ankle or waist of a user. The securing strap is closed by a quick release mechanism consisting of a fastener having opposed locking members for securing the ends of the strap and a quick release assembly for rapidly and conveniently releasing the fastener to free the ends of the strap. The quick release mechanism consists of a connector for acting on the fastener and a upstanding pull for actuating the connector. Preferably the fastener is of the side release type consisting of a housing and clip which is received in the housing to lock the two members together which is released by. The fastener is released by pulling the pull to cause the connector to unlock the clip from the housing. The pull should be of sufficient size to be readily grasped, even under emergency conditions.

  • Patent number: 5338237
Abstract: A device for attaching a leash to a body board or similar device consisting of male and a female coupler each having an elongated body and an enlarged disk shaped head having a planer inner face for contacting the upper and lower surfaces of the board when the device when the couplers are secured together in the board. The head of the coupler on the upper surface of the board is provided with a leash cord passage which is located along a radius of the coupler between the elongated body and the periphery of the disk shaped head. The leash cord passage opens to the upper and inner faces of the head. A slit is provided in the head to extend radially from the passage to the periphery of the head. The head is sufficiently resilient so that portions of the head adjacent the slit can be bent to open the slit and upon release of the bending force will return to their normal position with the slit closed.

  • Patent number: 5137483
Abstract: There is disclosed a connector consisting of a male coupler having a shank and head member and a female coupler including a cylindrical member having a bore and being open at one end for receiving the shank of the male coupling member. The female coupler is also provided with a head member affixed to the cylindrical member at the end opposite the open end. Both head members define a flat outer and inner face. The shank of the male coupler is preferably threaded for engaging corresponding mating threads or for self-tapping threads in the bore of the female coupler for retaining the shank in the bore. The female coupler, which is normally positioned at the upper surface of the surfboard, is provided with a head member having an axially extending opening which communicates between the outer surface of the head member and the bore and a normally extending passage which communicates between the bore and the exterior of the cylindrical member.

  • Patent number: 5082220
Abstract: A restraining and support device for infants bottles and the like to prevent the bottle from being accidently or intentionally thrown to the ground or the floor is disclosed. The device consists of a flexible resilient elongated member, one end of which (the attachment end) is adapted to be attached to a fixed object and the opposite end (the grasping end) is adapted to hold an infants bottle. The attachment end of the elongated member carries adjustable loop for removably securing the device to a fixed object. The grasping end of the device carries a resilient annulus which is fitted around the neck of the bottle to be restrained. Stand-off connectors connect the grasping annulus and the strap to respective ends of the elongated member and serve keep the elongated member away from the fixed object to which it is secured to avoid entanglement of the device.

  • Patent number: 4844595
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention a viewing device for flotation bodies is provided which comprises a body having an interior defined by its side walls and at least one transparent end wall. In one embodiment using two transparent end walls, the transparent end walls define spaced-apart viewing ports, one port being normally above the surface of the water and the opposite port being below the surface of the water. The interior of the body is adapted to be substantially condensation free by evacuating the interior of the body and sealing the body in the evacuated condition or, more preferably, filling the body with a fluid to the exclusion of air so that condensation and air bubbles are thereby avoided. In a preferred embodiment the viewing device consists of a single piece body having a single transparent end wall.

  • Patent number: 4267615
Abstract: A connector for attaching a leash to a surf mat comprising a shank member, a head coupled to one end of the shank member, and a coupling member attachable to the other end of the shank member. The shank member is adapted to project through a resilient surf mat with the head and the coupling member lying on the opposite faces of the surf mat. The outer surfaces of the head and coupling member are smooth and neither the head nor the coupling member project substantially, if at all, from the associated face of the surf mat. The resilience of the surf mat can be used to enhance the attachment between the coupling member and the shank member. The leash is attached at one end to the connector and at the other end to the surfer.
