  • Patent number: 8248536
Abstract: The invention provides techniques for separating luma and chroma signal components in a composite SECAM video signal. During reception, the SECAM video signal is split into luma and chroma output. The amplitude of the chroma carrier is monitored during reception. If the chroma carrier amplitude is greater than a threshold, the value of the chroma output can be reduced. Also, if the chroma carrier amplitude is greater than another threshold, a portion of the chroma carrier can be added to the luma; or the trap band of the band-trap filter for extracting luma from the composite video can be reduced. The respective amount of the reduction in the chroma output and the increase in the luma output are independently determined but both may proportional to the magnitude of the deviation in the chroma carrier amplitude from the different thresholds.

  • Patent number: 6317463
Abstract: A data stream filter includes a first memory bank storing a pattern field, and a second memory bank storing an enable field. A comparator compares units of an input data stream with identically sized units of the pattern field according to corresponding units of the enable field. An input controller, coupled to the comparator and second memory bank, writes matching units of the input data stream over the corresponding units of the pattern field, and an output controller, coupled to the comparator and the second memory bank outputs the content of the second memory bank when all units of the pattern field are matched.

  • Patent number: 6226335
Abstract: An automatic frequency control system including a binary non-resettable counter which counts periods of a reference signal. The system achieves control in two or more stages, including at least a coarse stage and a fine stage. A frequency divider generates AFC integration periods inversely proportional to the controlled frequency. A frequency divider includes a resettable counter which counts the number of periods of the controlled frequency and when the number of periods counted matches a stored integration period count value, the resettable counter is reset and the non-resettable counter is read. Switching between the coarse stage and the fine stage is based on an error count computed from the output of the non-resettable counter. A value ‘Error Correction’ is produced based on the value ‘Error Count’. A new value ‘Ctrl’ is produced based on the value ‘Error Correction’ and the control value ‘Ctrl’ during the previous AFC cycle.
