Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions, systems, and methods of using dual-layer hollow fiber membranes. The compositions and systems of the disclosure can be used to desalinate water from an underground formation. The compositions and systems of the disclosure can be further used to capture carbon dioxide from a gaseous sample.

Abstract: A downhole measurement system includes a data logger. The data logger includes a containment vessel containing a processor, an accelerometer, and memory. The containment vessel is characterized by a radial dimension less the diameter of a hole to be measured. The processor is operative to execute processor-readable instructions. The accelerometer is in data communication with the processor, and is operative to measure acceleration along three mutually orthogonal axes. The accelerometer is operative to output, to the processor, data characterizing the measured acceleration. The memory, in data communication with the processor, is operative to store processor-readable instructions. The stored instructions include processor-readable instructions, that when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive the outputted acceleration data and write the received acceleration data to the memory.

Abstract: The disclosure provides an instrument for determining the contents of a mixed-phase flow, such as that of a petroleum line. The instrument can use far-infrared, mid-infrared laser spectroscopy, Fourier transform spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy methods to determine the components of a mixture, and report the contents to a user.

Abstract: A method and system for treating produced water to provide clean water, including passing produced water through at least one super-oleophilic hollow fiber membrane unit of a first stage to remove floating oil and organic matter and provide preliminarily cleaned water, and subsequently passing the preliminarily cleaned produced water through at least one super-hydrophilic nanofiltration hollow fiber membrane unit of a second stage to provide clean water.

Abstract: A method and system of cleaning or purifying produced water, especially from a well head, using a humidification/dehumidification unit comprised of at least one humidification chamber portion capable of receiving hot produced water and, in a counter current direction, air; and at least one dehumidification/condensation chamber portion capable of receiving humid air from the humidification chamber portion. Concentrated produced water is capable of being withdrawn from the humidification chamber portion, and clean or purified water is capable of being withdrawn from the dehumidification/condensation chamber portion.
