  • Patent number: 6259765
Abstract: An X-ray tube including an electron source and a magnetic guide. The X-ray tube includes at least one electron source, at least one microtip, and an extraction grid, one zone of which emits electrons. Further provided are at least one anode, one zone of which emits X-rays under the impact of the electrons, and a magnetic guiding device for the electrons, capable of creating a magnetic field which is homogeneous at least between the zones. Such an X-ray tube may find application to X-ray absorption analysis or X-ray fluorescence analysis.

  • Patent number: 6233309
Abstract: A system for recording information on a film medium sensitive to X-rays, without disturbing the radiographic image previously recorded on the same film. The system includes a set of adjacent X-rays sources and a source control which sequentially controls the X-rays emitted by each source. Different printing levels on the medium are obtained by controlling X-ray output dosage by each source.

  • Patent number: 5767629
Abstract: A device for starting and maintaining a discharge which is placed within an enclosure. The enclosure contains a discharge zone confined by an electromagnetic field. The device has a microtip electron source located in the vicinity of the discharge zone. The electron source is polarized in such a way that it emits electrons to the discharge zone in order to start and maintain the discharge. The device can be used in a cold cathode vacuum gauge.

  • Patent number: 5700627
Abstract: A device for insolating micrometric areas in a photosensitive layer and a method for producing patterns in such a layer. The method is characterized in that the layer is subjected to an atmosphere containing a transparent liquid that does not wet the photosensitive material, in order to produce on this layer a monolayer of micro-droplets (121), the layer of photosensitive material is insolated through the monolayer of micro-droplets (121) in order to selectively print the areas of exposure (122) of the layer, the micro-droplets (121) are removed, and the layer of photosensitive material is developed in order to form said patterns in accordance with the areas of exposure.

  • Patent number: 5465392
Abstract: In a wireless local area network system including a server and a plurality of mobile wireless stations, the server maintains a table of stations active in the network system and monitors the transmission activity of the stations. If no activity is detected from a station for a predetermined time, a series of watchdog messages is sent requesting a response from that station. The stations are battery powered and operate in an "AWAKE" state to receive or transmit messages or in a SLEEP state of low power consumption. The stations return from the SLEEP state to the AWAKE state in time to receive at least one watchdog message, thereby avoiding the stations being undesirably logged out from the table of active stations.

  • Patent number: 4472634
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for determining the electron states of a material. This apparatus comprises an enclosure containing a material, means for producing electrons of energy E.sub.i such, that on then penetrating the material, they acquire an energy E.sub.f below E.sub.i, accompanied by an emission of photons having different wavelengths. The apparatus also comprises another enclosure equipped with a tube entering the vacuum enclosure and provided with an entrance slit and another tube provided with a regulatable exit slit. The apparatus also comprises a grating located in the other enclosure and etched with lines, whilst being able to rotate about an axis parallel to these lines in order to select photons of the same wavelength.
