  • Publication number: 20050110589
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides a system including a varactor and a voltage generator. The varactor includes a set of substantially equal voltage-tunable capacitor cells, each having a capacitive range that varies with a first plurality of operating parameters and each providing a capacitance within the range based on a voltage level of a reference voltage. The voltage generator is configured to provide the reference voltage, wherein the voltage level of the reference voltage corresponds to a desired capacitance within the capacitive range and varies based on a second plurality of operating parameters which are substantially the same as the first plurality of operating parameters, and wherein the voltage level of the reference voltage causes each capacitor cell to provide the desired capacitance.

  • Publication number: 20050111607
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention provides a phase-locked loop comprising a charge-pump loop filter and a phase detector system. The charge-pump loop filter is configured to provide a control voltage having a voltage level based on a state of a first control signal and on a state of a second control signal. The phase detector system is configured to receive a first clock, a second clock, and a control signal defining a plurality of states including a first state and a second state. The phase detector system is further configured to provide the first control signal and the second control signal each having a state based on a phase difference between the first and second clocks when the control signal has the first state, and to provide the first control signal and second control signal each having a state asynchronously controlled by the control signal when the control signal has the second state.

  • Publication number: 20050111605
Abstract: A phase-locked loop includes a voltage-controlled oscillator and a charge-pump loop filter. The voltage-controlled oscillator includes a varactor having a first set of capacitor cells configured to adjust a capacitance based on a first control voltage, and a second set of capacitor cells configured to adjust a capacitance based on a second control voltage. The charge-pump loop filter receives a first and a second update signal, each having at least one state based on a phase difference between a first clock and a second clock, and comprises a first component and a second component. The first component is configured to adjust, during an update period, a voltage across an impedance from a reference level based on the states of the first and second update signals and to return the voltage across the impedance to the reference level prior to an end of the update period, wherein the voltage across the impedance comprises the first control voltage.

  • Publication number: 20040035553
Abstract: The method allows cool rooms or sea containers designed for frozen goods to handle produce requiring more precisely controlled temperatures and conditions. Each load of produce is held in the sea container or cool room but in a sealed periphery from the air of the refrigerated environment. The atmosphere within the sealed periphery is then circulated so as to pass through the load and around it via ducts provided adjacent the sealed periphery. Heat exchange between the circulating gas and the refrigerated environment serves to cool the load. However, if cooling is excessive a heating element can be used to raise the temperature of the circulating atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 6615908
Abstract: The invention allows cool rooms or sea containers designed for frozen goods to handle produce requiring more precisely controlled temperatures and conditions, e.g., vegetables and fruits requiring temperatures in the chilling range and often also needing control or modification of the atmosphere. Each load of produce (100) (e.g. of pallet size) is held in the sea container or cool room but is sealed from the air of the refrigerated environment by, for example, a plastics bag (56). The atmosphere within the bag is then circulated by a fan (12) (or by convection currents from a heating element) so as to pass through the load and around it via ducts (30) provided adjacent the bag (56). Heat exchange (50) between the circulating gas and the refrigerated environment, via the plastics film, serves to cool the load. However, if cooling is excessive a heating element can be used to raise the temperature of the circulating atmosphere. Gas composition of the atmosphere can be controlled by scrubbing, flushing, etc.

  • Patent number: 4930120
Abstract: A signal distribution cable network system in which frequency division multiplexing is employed to provide a plurality of information channels. A channel allocation controller (CT) allocates free channels on request for the transport of signals from a local signal source (SS1, SS2, SS3) to a signal destination receiver (SR1, SR2, SR3) connected to the network. The local signal source includes a programmable modulator (CFS, VCO, MOD) which is set by the channel controller (CT) to operate at the carrier frequency of the selected channel. The signal level of the signals transmitted by the local signal source is measured in the controller and adjusted to compensate for signal attenuation by a command signal sent by the controller to the programmable modulator in the local signal source.

  • Patent number: 4645989
Abstract: A video display apparatus operates at two or more horizontal scan rates. In order to prevent excessive collector voltage from being applied to the horizontal output transistor, a transition circuit turns off the horizontal output transistor when switching between horizontal scan frequencies occurs. The horizontal output transistor is maintained nonconductive until the correct oscillator frequency and supply voltage is coupled to the horizontal output circuit.

  • Patent number: 4612574
Abstract: A video display apparatus having automatic frequency control circuitry for adjusting the frequency of a horizontal oscillator to provide oscillator synchronization with incoming horizontal synchronizing pulses incorporates an interface circuit for controlling the horizontal oscillator frequency response to frequency control output voltage. The interface circuit incorporates a two-transistor switch which provides a current path for charging the horizontal oscillator timing capacitor during a portion of the horizontal interval and a current path for bypassing the horizontal oscillator timing capacitor during another portion of the horizontal interval. The amplitude of the frequency control output voltage will determine the relative length of time that each of the transistors is conducting in order to provide a net increase or decrease rate in the charging of the oscillator capacitor, which in turn adjusts the oscillator operating frequency.

  • Patent number: 4535270
Abstract: A resonant degaussing circuit provides rapid recovery for use with computer monitors or video display apparatus where frequent movement of the display apparatus occurs. The degaussing circuit comprises a capacitor in parallel with a degaussing coil. Triggering of an SCR causes the capacitor to discharge, so that it resonates with the degaussing coil to produce the desired AC degaussing current. The SCR is triggered only when the vertical deflection current is substantially zero, in order to eliminate interference of the vertical flux with the degaussing current.
