  • Patent number: 10935534
Abstract: A whole plant gas exchange apparatus employs a chamber having a first region for accommodating a growth medium and a root system of a whole plant, and a second region accommodating a canopy of the plant. The regions are separated by a barrier, except for an opening through which the stem of the plant is accommodated. An air source supplies incoming air to the second region through an intake. An air outlet conveys outgoing air from the second region to a gas sensor for analysis of the outgoing air after photosynthetic interaction with the plant canopy. A vent communicates the first region of the chamber to an ambient environment outside the chamber. A resulting pressurized state of the second region is used to exhaust air from the first region through the vent in order to isolate this exhausted air from the analyzed canopy air.

  • Patent number: 10833900
Abstract: A receiver signal is sampled at a sampling rate equivalent to a chip rate at which chips of a known signal are timed. The resulting receiver signal samples are segmented into receiver signal segments, which are filtered by respective matched filters that are matched to known signal segments segmented from the known signal. Indexes are assigned to elements of the resulting filter response sequences to define an array thereof. Frequency transforms are computed of elements of the filter response sequences in respective columns of the array. Indexes are assigned to elements of the resulting frequency response sequences to define another array thereof. Channel effects imparted on a radio signal are jointly estimated from characteristics of the other array at which at least one local maximum is located.

  • Publication number: 20200193541
Abstract: A computer system includes a blockchain platform having a distributed application deployed thereon. The distributed application includes storage for storing data for smart contracts on the blockchain platform. Smart contracts communicate with and store data in the storage. An upgradeable contract object is used with this storage. A smart contract has a plurality of states and an associated sponsor. The sponsor is primarily in control of changing the states of the contract with which it is associated. The smart contract has a reference to an address registry, also on the blockchain platform, which identifies authorized potential participants. These authorized potential participants for the smart contract can elect to participant in that smart contract. When a participant elects to participate in a smart contract, the address registry is checked to verify that an individual is an authorized potential participant.

  • Patent number: 10681454
Abstract: Described is a human-ear-wearable apparatus having a housing, which contains electronic and auditory components for conveying sound into a human hear. An inflatable mounting system is configured to secure the housing to the human ear. The mounting system includes an elastomeric bladder configured to inflate into a customizable counterpart shape of portions of the user's Concha and Meatus areas of a particular user's ear. A pump, coupled to the housing, is configured to pass air through an opening in the housing to the elastomeric bladder. Inflation of the bladder, via the pump, is controllable by a user to form a customized fit of the mounting system's bladder to the Concha and Meatus areas of the user's ear. One or more speakers may be encased in the elastomeric bladder. For example, a dual-hybrid speaker arrangement is described with a cone speaker and a balanced-armature driver embedded in the bladder.

  • Patent number: 10574703
Abstract: Techniques are described for delivering one or more first resources of a page using a first security level, and delivering one or more second resources of a page using a second, different security level. A page is generated to include elements identifying resources to be presented in the page, and the elements may include security level identifiers indicating a security level to be employed in communicating the corresponding resource. Each security level may be associated with a set of security measures that ensure the integrity or confidentiality of the resource while it is communicated. The use of multiple security levels to communicate multiple resources may provide appropriate security for each resource, reducing latency and overhead in page generation, communication, and rendering.

  • Patent number: 10366722
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a laser diode configured to generate modulated light during a write operation in response to receiving modulated current having a mean amplitude that varies or is constant. A slider is configured for heat-assisted magnetic recording and to receive the modulated light. A writer heater of the slider is configured to receive power during the write operation having a magnitude that varies or is constant. A sensor is situated on or within the slider. The sensor is configured to produce a sensor signal representative of output optical power of the laser diode. • Publication number: 20190175245
Abstract: A vapor ablation handpiece for assisting a physician perform vapor ablation with a vapor ablation catheter includes a vapor generating element arranged in a coil shape. A mandrel seated in the body of the handpiece affixes the vapor generating element in the coiled arrangement. A voltage difference is supplied across the length of the vapor generating element when activated, causing the vapor generating element to heat liquid therein converting the liquid to vapor. The heated condensable vapor is delivered to a target tissue through the catheter.

  • Publication number: 20190133668
Abstract: A method for treating emphysema with a condensable vapor includes creating a plurality of collateral channels through the airway walls, and delivering the condensable vapor to the airways. The condensable vapor flows to the diseased parenchymal tissue through the airways and the collateral channels. Condensable vapor to contact the tissue heats the tissue, reducing it in volume. • Publication number: 20180318002
Abstract: A vapor-based ablation method mitigates constriction of the airways for the treatment of asthma and COPD. A vapor ablation catheter is advanced along the airways, through the airway wall, and to an extra-airway target tissue. The position of the catheter is assessed to determine whether the catheter is in contact with the target tissue. In embodiments, the distal energy delivery section of the catheter is manipulated to contact an exterior surface of the target tissue, or to enter the target tissue. Once the position is confirmed, vapor is delivered to the target tissue through an egress port with a sufficient amount of energy to ablate the target tissue. The target tissue may vary and include smooth muscle surrounding the airways, and nerves that control the smooth muscle. Methods for treating lung cancer are also described including delivering a vapor at lung tumors and growths, and blood vessels feeding the lung tumors and growths.
