Abstract: Semi-retro-reflective total internal reflection-based image displays may be equipped with at least one dielectric layer. The at least one dielectric layer may be deposited on one or more of a front electrode layer, rear electrode layer or pixel walls. This may lead to displays with enhanced brightness, improved electrophoretic particle responsiveness, improved grayscale and chemical stability in the presence of an electrophoretic medium, and improved resistance to high electric fields and high temperatures. In one embodiment, a total internal reflection-based image display comprises a dielectric layer formed by one or more of methods molecular layer deposition, atomic layer deposition, chemical vapor deposition, plasma enhance chemical vapor deposition, spin coating or slot die coating. In another embodiment, a total internal reflection-based image display comprises at least one dielectric layer and at least one surface modification layer.

Abstract: An improved walker includes an adjustable frame with angled portions that provide an ergonomic interface and enhanced stability for a user. The front of the walker includes a wishbone front support frame. Rather than incorporating multiple front legs extending from the top of the walker to the floor, the wishbone front support frame provides clearance on either side of a center front column. This clearance allows users to position, or maneuver, the walker close to adjacent objects. The handrail portions of the walker are pitched at a downward angle running in a direction from the rear to the front of the walker. This pitch moves the operating position of the user close to the front of walker providing a safe and stable operating position.

Abstract: An improved toilet seat includes an upper body includes an upper sitting surface; a lower body coupled with the upper body, where the lower body includes a lower contact surface; and at least one slideable clamp positioned between the upper sitting surface and the lower contact surface, where the at least one slideable clamp includes a clamp arm and clamp paddle coupled to the clamp arm, and where the clamp arm is configured to move between a first position and a second position.

Abstract: A deployable electrical contact device is provided that includes a body portion and a mounting arrangement. The mounting arrangement is controllably deployable from the body portion. The mounting arrangement is configured to retain the device at a position at a metallic well structure by mechanically engaging with a wall surface of the metallic well structure. The mounting arrangement includes electrically conductive pads configured to provide electrical continuity between the engaged metallic well structure and the mounting arrangement. The device is configured such that when deployed an electrical signal path between one or more of the conductive pads and the body portion is established to provide electrical continuity between the metallic well structure and the body portion.

Abstract: An improved shower chair having washdown surfaces, reconfigurable arrangements, and enhanced safety features. The shower chair includes a backrest that removably attaches to an underside of the shower chair offset from, and arranged below, a seat pan. Removing the backrest exposes an upper support crossbar that runs from one side of the shower chair to the other. The washdown surfaces include a sloped surface arranged in the seat pan that is angled downward from a front of the shower chair toward a rear of the shower chair and a sloped surface arranged in the backrest of the shower chair angled from a rear of the shower chair toward a front of the shower chair under the seat pan. The washdown surfaces provide an unrestricted fluid flow path running from the seat pan to the backrest and then to the floor.

Abstract: An illustrative commode is described to include a seat having an opening therein, a seat base connected with the seat and configured to allow the seat to move between an open position and a closed position, a leg assembly configured to support the seat base, where the leg assembly is configured to adjust a height of the seat base, and an armrest configured to at least partially rotate about the seat base and the leg assembly.
