  • Publication number: 20160001050
Abstract: A ureteral stent includes a shaft having a soft tip and deployable anchor at its distal end and a coiled pigtail at its proximal end. The stent is delivered by a wire assembly which includes an inner wire and a sheath. The inner wire extends through a lumen within the stent shaft and is used to deploy the anchor structure. The wire then separates from the stent so that it may be removed for full stent deployment.

  • Publication number: 20070106233
Abstract: A luminal access and dilation system comprises an access sheath, an obturator, and an evertable lubricous sleeve. The evertable lubricous sleeve is initially stowed within an axial passage of the obturator and is everted from the axial passage over the exterior of the obturator and the axis sleeve as the system is advanced into a body lumen. The obturator may be removed from the access sheath to provide a central passage for access to the body lumen or target body cavity.

  • Publication number: 20070016244
Abstract: A ureteral decompression device comprises a guide member and an anchoring structure. The guide member may be introduced through the urethra and bladder into the ureter so that the anchor structure passes a lodged kidney stone. Once past the stone, the anchor structure can be compacted to anchor the guide member in place. The anchor structure will permit leakage and the guide member will provide a leakage path directly past the stone, thus decompressing the kidney.

  • Publication number: 20060173525
Abstract: Stents and other luminal prostheses may be introduced to body lumens, such as ureters, within a lubricious sleeve. The sleeve may be packed within a distal end of the stent so that it may be everted and withdrawn to cover an exterior surface of the stent as the stent is advanced. The stent is typically advanced using a separate pusher member which is engaged against a proximal end of the stent. The stent may be anchored within the body lumen by deforming or otherwise deploying anchor structures at either or both ends of the stent.

  • Publication number: 20060074436
Abstract: A body structure is manipulated by first introducing a bulking material, such as a length of material, into an interior of the body structure in either open or laparoscopic surgical procedures. After the bulking material is introduced, an exterior region of the body structure may be manipulated while the material remains within the interior of the body structure. Typically, manipulation comprises resection of the body structure from surrounding tissue. The resected body structure may then be removed.

  • Publication number: 20060009784
Abstract: Occluding structures may be created within a body lumen by advancing a length of material distally through the body lumen. By drawing a distal location on the advanced length of material in a proximal direction, the material may be compacted into a structure which at least partially occludes the lumen. The occluding structure may be used for a variety of purposes, including removing obstructions from the body lumen, such as kidney stones from the ureter; providing hemostasis in a blood vessel; providing occlusion of a fallopian tube; temporary constraint of stone fragments in the urinary tract; capture or restraint of clot in blood vessels; and the like. Apparatus for performing the method may comprise a length of material attached at its distal end to tubular guide or other advancement member. Tensioning members may also be provided for collapsing and compacting the length of material within the body lumen.

  • Publication number: 20050101947
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for delivering, monitoring, balancing, and/or dispersing high-frequency current flow in monopolar electrosurgery. The methods generally include positioning an active electrode in or on target tissue, positioning at least two dispersive electrodes on tissue remote from the target tissue, establishing electrical current flow from the active electrode through the dispersive electrodes, and individually adjusting the current through at least one of the dispersive electrodes to balance the current through the dispersive electrodes. By adjusting and balancing the current through two or more dispersive electrodes, safety of electrosurgical systems may be enhanced by preventing unwanted patient burns.
