  • Patent number: 6975455
Abstract: A transflective assembly includes an absorbing polarizer and a first reflective polarizer disposed to reflect at least a portion of light transmitted through the absorbing polarizer. A second reflective polarizer is disposed between the absorbing polarizer and the first reflective polarizer. The second reflective polarizer reflects light transmitted through the first reflective polarizer having a polarization absorbable in the absorbing polarizer, and transmits light transmitted through the absorbing polarizer towards the first reflective polarizer.

  • Publication number: 20030028285
Abstract: A method and apparatus for fuel and fuel additive dispensing is disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, a programmable intermediary module is disposed in the path of communication of control and data signals between a fuel dispenser station and a point-of-sale (POS) controller subsystem. The intermediary module is programmable to intercept communications (control and data signals) transmitted between the dispenser and the POS controller, such that it can monitor, inject, intercept, filter, capture, convert, and/or modify communications between the fuel dispenser and and the POS controller. The intermediary module enables various enhanced control, monitoring, and reporting functions to be performed remotely and automatically. Further, the intermediary module enables various retail transactions to be integrated into a conventional fueling transaction without the necessity of extensive modification to an existing POS control subsystem.

  • Patent number: 4190180
Abstract: The open neck of a vertical container of fluid is covered by a horizontal flexible diaphragm with an outer lip detachably engaging the periphery of the neck. A top disposed concave cup-like recess centrally disposed in the diaphragm has a hole in the bottom. A vertically elongated tube open at both ends extends through the hole and is sealed thereto, these ends being interconnected by a vertical bore. The bottom end extends into the fluid. The bore has a vertically elongated enlarged region which is disposed intermediate the top and bottom tube ends. The top tube end has a plurality of horizontal spaced conduits interconnecting the bore with the interior of the recess. A sphere in said region is slidable up and down therein, being moved by gravity to the bottom of the region when the tube is upright and being moved by gravity to the top of the region when the tube is inverted. Two sealing devices are disposed in the region adjacent the top and bottom thereof respectively.

  • Patent number: 4025753
Abstract: A yarn heater has an elongate, hollow metal yarn heating member with a substantially constant internal cross-section, an electric yarn heating element mounted externally of the heating member and a baffle located internally inside of the heating member extending longitudinally therein and dividing the inside space into two passageways. The heating member is filled with a heating fluid which when heated by the heating element consists of a liquid phase and a vapor phase. Located at the lower end of the baffle is an aperture for permitting automatic circulation of the heating fluid. A yarn heating surface located at the front of the heating member and extending along the length thereof is formed with a pair of longitudinal grooves for guiding the yarn.
