  • Patent number: 11968372
Abstract: A system and methods for a CODEC driving a real-time light field display for multi-dimensional video streaming, interactive gaming and other light field display applications is provided applying a layered scene decomposition strategy. Multi-dimensional scene data is divided into a plurality of data layers of increasing depths as the distance between a given layer and the plane of the display increases. Data layers are sampled using a plenoptic sampling scheme and rendered using hybrid rendering, such as perspective and oblique rendering, to encode light fields corresponding to each data layer. The resulting compressed, (layered) core representation of the multi-dimensional scene data is produced at predictable rates, reconstructed and merged at the light field display in real-time by applying view synthesis protocols, including edge adaptive interpolation, to reconstruct pixel arrays in stages (e.g. columns then rows) from reference elemental images.

  • Patent number: 7169266
Abstract: A coke drum head is hinged to a coke drum body using a compound joint such as a trammel pivot, and the head is moved between open and closed positions using an actuator. In moving between open and closed positions, the head traces out a non-circular path which reduces the required headroom relative to a head using a standard pivot.

  • Patent number: 6802143
Abstract: A reliable, rotating, illuminated advertising display unit that utilizes independent display modules housing lights and advertising material. These are easily removed from the base unit for shipping, assembly, and replacement. Optionally, AMLCD, plasma, or similar flat-panel displays may be used in the display modules. The display modules surround a hollow central compartment that may be used for storing, collecting, or displaying products such as food or beverages, or as a trash container. Power is transmitted from the base via a slip ring to the lighting contained in the display modules so as to display advertising or similar matter. The rotational capability is provided via a motor, a gearing arrangement, a central tapered roller bearing, and rollers. The unit's power is provided by AC power when available, or by utilizing a fuel cell, e.g., a proton exchange membrane (PEM), methanol solid oxide, photovoltaic cells, battery, or some combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 6099021
Abstract: An accessory is provided for supporting a four-wheeled wheel-chair in a stable position in which it is tilted backwards and thus enables a disabled user to assume a relaxing recumbent posture. The accessory having a swing leg (3) that swings freely in the vertical plane of symmetry passing through the longitudinal axis of the wheelchair about a perpendicular and horizontal pivot rod (4) substantially located at the top of the back rest (9) between the two side frame posts that support the back rest (9), via rapid or permanent fastening elements (5, 6, 7, 8). The lower portion of the swing leg (3) advantageously has an adjustable length and is provided with a stabilizer foot (10).

  • Patent number: 5628603
Abstract: The inlet of a coke chute is pushed upwards by a plurality of actuators until it encompasses the bottom outlet of a coking vessel. The inlet is preferably surrounded by a skirt which tapers inwardly from top to bottom, and the entire chute is preferably retractable below the level of the floor underneath the coking vessel. A plurality of locks can be used to secure the skirt to the lower portion of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 5244222
Abstract: This invention relates to a collapsible wheelchair (1) having a chassis (2) composed of two separate, lateral symmetrical sides (6) each including at least one virtually vertical upright bar (7), an upper arm (12), a lower arm (15) a carrying wheel (10) at the rear of the chassis and a guiding wheel (17) at the front of the chassis. The upper and lower arms (12, 15) are solid with the upright bar (7) and the lateral sides are only connected by the joint action of a seat (3) and a back (4), each including two rigid and symmetrical half-pieces (18, 28), articulated between each other following a median axis respectively of seat (3) and back (4).

  • Patent number: 4280953
Abstract: Somatostatin (SS) is modified to incorporate a carbohydrate moiety in the peptide chain by linkage to either Asn, Ser or Thr. The modified SS peptide analog may have the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is preferably a hexose or amino-hexose, such as glucose or N-acetylglucosamine. Alternatively, the carbohydrate can be linked to Ser or Thr by an ether bond. Such glycosomatostatins have an extended biological half-life compared to the parent peptide and substantially the same potency. Modifications and substitutions with respect to other amino acid residues in the chain can be made in the glycopeptides, for the purpose of increasing the effectiveness of SS analogs in other ways, and such increased effectiveness is a characteristic of the glycosomatostatin along with its longer-acting biological effect.

  • Patent number: 4239507
Abstract: A gas which is the most readily condensable of the gases of a mixture is separated by passing the mixture in contact with at least one microporous barrier having a permeability of 100.times.10.sup.-7 to 1000.times.10.sup.-7 moles of air/cm.sup.2 /min./cmHg, a pore thickness of 10 to 100 A, by adjusting the partial pressure of the most readily condensable gas and/or the temperature of the gas mixture as a function of the mean pore radius of the barrier in order to ensure capillary condensation of the condensable gas at the pore inlets of the barrier and to induce a flow of condensed gas along the pores and across the barrier, the gas which has thus condensed being then collected.
