  • Patent number: 7939156
Abstract: Composite concrete/bamboo structural members and process of manufacture therefor. The bamboo material includes layers formed of bamboo segments which have been dried and glue coated. The segments are substantially free of outer nodes and husk and inner membrane material prior to application of glue. The longitudinal axes of the segments in each layer are generally parallel to one another and are arranged in a mold to surround the surface of a cured concrete core. The layers of segments are heated, compressed and bonded together until the glue cures around the concrete core into a single integral structure. The concrete core is preferably reinforced with steel REBAR rods.

  • Patent number: 7748251
Abstract: In a circuit configuration for ascertaining tilt errors in connection with a position-measuring device, the position-measuring device includes at least one incremental track on a measuring graduation that is able to be read by a scanner, which is movable relative to the measuring graduation in a measuring direction, and the scanner is guided along the measuring graduation and the scanner is rotated with respect to the measuring graduation by an angle of misalignment that is changeable during the relative movement. Perpendicular to the measuring direction, the scanner has a first scanning region and a second scanning region, whereby upon reading the at least one incremental track, at least one first position signal is able to be generated by the first scanning region and at least one second position signal is able to be generated by the second scanning region.

  • Publication number: 20020121982
Abstract: An integrated device for detecting a desired level of water in a tub, hot tub, sink or the like. The device incorporates a water sensor, sound processor and speaker into a housing that has the outward appearance of a whistle. The device mounts to a vertical side of the tub or other water container by a swiveling suction cup which allows the water sensor incorporated in the bottom of the device to remain level with respect to a rising surface of water. Upon the detection of the water level by the water sensors, the sound processor generates a varying series of sounds to alert a user. The varying sounds provide the user with information concerning the time that has passed since the initial detection of the water level.

  • Patent number: 5973620
Abstract: In the installation of a scanner of a position measuring apparatus, it is required that parameters such as amplitude and phase position of analog signals generated by a scanner be tested so that the scanner can be correctly installed. For this purpose, a control device with a display field is provided. In the display field, a bar is displayed whose width represents a measure for the range of variation of the radius and whose position represents a measure for the average radius of a Lissajous figure. In addition, a marking is displayed for the admissible range of variation of this radius.

  • Patent number: 5883298
Abstract: In the installation of a position measuring device it is necessary that parameters such as amplitude and phase position of the analog scanning signals as well as the position of the reference mark signal are tested. In order to accomplish such testing, a control device is provided that has a display field for visually indicating these parameters. A first bar is displayed in the display field and its width represents a measure for the fluctuation range of the radius and its position represents a measure for the average radius of a Lissajous figure. In addition, a marking is displayed for permissible fluctuation in range of this radius. Furthermore, a second bar is displayed in the display field, which indicates the position of the reference mark signal in relation to the analog signals generated by the scanner.

  • Patent number: 3964206
Abstract: A miniature electrically powered vehicle including an electric motor having a pair of permanent magnets mounted in the car to serve as the stator of the motor and also being mounted to extend in close magnetic proximity to the electric rails positioned in the track upon which the vehicle is operated. The magnets are mounted one behind the other in the vehicle such that a magnetic flux path exists running between one of the permanent magnets to at least one of the electric rails and then to the other of said permanent magnets. The resulting magnetic force between the car and the track provides an increased normal force of the car against the track to increase the traction of the driving wheels and to decrease slippage and prevent the vehicle from spinning as it negotiates curves in the track.
