  • Patent number: 11306941
Abstract: A damper assembly for use in a round forced air duct feeding a register vent through a register boot includes a damper frame having a frame periphery with a first side and a second side that is at least substantially parallel with the first side, the first side and the second side each having a length that is greater than a distance between the first side and the second side. A damper blade is pivotable relative to the damper frame about an axis of rotation, at least substantially parallel with the first side and the second side, between an open position and a closed position. A flexible outer seal extends outwardly from the frame periphery of the damper frame and is at least substantially circular in order to seal against an inner surface of the round forced air duct.

  • Publication number: 20190376708
Abstract: A damper system is configured for placement within a ductwork system having a duct that supplies conditioned air through a register boot to a register vent within a room of a building. The damper system includes a damper that is configured to be secured within the duct of the ductwork system upstream of the register boot and is rotatable between a closed position and an open position. The damper system includes one or more sensors and a control module that is operably coupled to the damper and the one or more sensors and is configured to be secured within the register boot downstream of the damper, the control module including a controller configured to control operation of the damper and to report one or more sensed conditions to a building controller located outside of the ductwork system.

  • Patent number: 10035300
Abstract: A system for manufacturing a stiffened composite panel may include a stiffener tooling assembly, a caul plate, and a rotatable strongback. The stiffener tooling assembly may include stiffener tooling configured to support a plurality of composite stiffeners. The caul plate may have a layup surface for laying up a composite skin. The strongback may be releasably coupled to the caul plate. The system may include a plurality of hinges each having a fixed hinge portion and a movable hinge portion. The movable hinge portion may be coupled to the strongback for rotation thereof between an open position and a closed position for engagement of the caul plate with the stiffener tooling assembly.

  • Patent number: 9423143
Abstract: An HVAC actuator includes an output shaft rotatable between first and second end positions and a drive mechanism to selectively drive the output shaft toward the first end position. The actuator may include a light source within its housing and a window to provide visibility of the light from the light source to an observer. An aperture member may be situated between the light source and the window and be configured to move as the output shaft is rotated. The aperture member may have spaced openings that transmit the light to the window at a plurality of positions of the output shaft such that the aperture member may cause the appearance of blinking of the light through the window as the output shaft is rotated toward the first end position. One of the openings may be configured to be in registration with the light source at the first end position.

  • Patent number: 9282654
Abstract: A wall plate assembly for an HVAC controller may include a rear plate including an aperture extending through the rear plate and a front plate securable to the rear plate. In some cases, the front plate may have a recessed portion that is recessed back toward the rear plate and align with the aperture in the rear plate. An air flow barrier may be secured to the recessed portion of the front plate. The air flow barrier may include a barrier surface that covers a portion of the aperture formed in the recessed portion of the front plate to reduce air infiltration. The air flow barrier may include an air flow barrier aperture that is sized to accommodate wires passing through the aperture in the recessed portion of the front plate for connection to a wire connection block of the front plate.

  • Patent number: 8704672
Abstract: Methods and systems for indicating a status of an air filter of an HVAC system may include receiving a measure that is related to an amount of flow restriction presented by the air filter in an HVAC system, using the measure to determine whether the air filter does not need replacing, the air filter needs to be replaced soon, or the air filter should be replaced now, and displaying on a display of an HVAC controller an air filter status indicator, wherein the air filter status indicator includes a stop-light metaphor. In one example, the air filter status indicator may display a green color when the air filter does not need replacing, display a yellow color when the air filter needs to be replaced soon, and display a red color when the air filter should be replaced now. In some cases, the air filter status indicator may also include a qualitative term indicative of the current status of the air filter.

  • Publication number: 20080034369
Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing jobs on an enterprise-wide computer system. The computer system uses a portal architecture to allow a user to view a wide variety of content retrieved from a variety of different computer systems. The computer system is configured such that a plurality of users can access the system at the same time through a computer network such as the Internet. Users may access the computer system by using a standardized browser program, thus simplifying the user interface. The computer system may also be connected to one or more back-end databases that correspond to the different computer systems within the enterprise. The computer system is configured to run predefined jobs to process data. These jobs can perform a variety of tasks such as retrieving data from a back-end database, preparing a report based upon retrieved data, processing data already resident within the portal system, or notifying a user when a particular condition occurs within the portal system.
