  • Patent number: 7121022
Abstract: A locking assembly is disclosed. The locking assembly is for coupling a first member including a receiving area, and a second member having a receiving region. The locking system includes an interference element including an interfering portion that is received within the receiving area of the first member when the locking system couples the first member and the second member together, a biasing element, a cam, wherein the cam is adapted to cause the biasing element to be in a biased position or an unbiased position, and a wedge shaped structure.

  • Publication number: 20050241195
Abstract: A lip assembly is disclosed and includes a lip having an upper surface, a lower surface, a front portion, a rear portion, a first side portion, a second side portion, and a plurality of holes disposed between the front portion and the rear portion and extending from the upper surface to the lower surface. The first and second side portions are on opposite sides of the front portion of the lip, and the front portion, the first side portion, and the second side portion include projections and valleys. Tooth assemblies extend away from at least the front portion of the lip and are respectively coupled to the lip via the plurality of holes.

  • Publication number: 20050241194
Abstract: A lip assembly is disclosed. The lip assembly comprises a lip having an upper surface, a lower surface, a front portion, and a rear portion. A plurality of holes is disposed between the front portion and the rear portion. The lip also includes support members. Each support member is disposed adjacent to a hole within the plurality of holes and is positioned to inhibit movement of a tooth assembly coupled to the hole. A plurality of tooth assemblies extend away from the lip and are respectively coupled to the lip via the plurality of holes. The lip assembly may be used with an excavation bucket body.

  • Patent number: 6668472
Abstract: A locking system for coupling a first member including an aperture, and a second member having a receiving region is disclosed. The locking system comprises: (a) an interference element including (i) a first portion that fits within the aperture when the locking system couples the first member and the second member together, (ii) a second portion, wherein the first portion forms an angle with respect to the second portion, and (iii) a protrusion that extends into the receiving region when the locking system is in use; and (b) a locking element that engages the second portion of the interference element when the locking system is in use.

  • Patent number: 6032390
Abstract: In an excavation bucket, the nose of an adapter has two surfaces to take the horizontal loads and four surfaces to take the vertical loads. A pin holds and locks a tooth to the adapter. Projections on the pin engage sloping surfaces of the nose. A recess placed ahead of the nose of the adapter will become visible as the tooth erodes due to wear. A recess at the nose of the adapter indicates that the tooth has worn too much and, unless the tooth is replaced, will commence to cause wear of the adapter and adjacent parts. To attach the adapter to the lip of the excavation bucket, wedge members are joined together near one end thereof to form a wedge-shaped block insertable into a wedge-shaped space formed by a C-clamp surface and a slot in the lip. The block is forced into the space, and spring biased teeth carried by the lock box progressively enter and leave the recesses in the outer surface of the C-clamp. When the C-clamp is tight enough in the gap, the installation of the lock box is complete.

  • Patent number: 5417518
Abstract: An improved keeper pin mount and method for releasably locking an excavation tooth to an adaptor of an excavation bucket. The keeper pin has a wedge block and a wedge. The wedge block has a shear pin and a single replaceable tooth. The wedge has a series of teeth that progressively engage the single tooth of the wedge block. The single tooth has a spring steel projection bonded to a rubber block. This block is removably received in a recess in the wedge block. The rubber block bears against the adjacent inner surface of the recess of the wedge block. The wedge block is first put into place in the hole provided for the keeper pin; then the wedge is inserted in the hole, and the teeth progressively move past the single tooth of the wedge block. The resilience of the rubber block to which the single tooth is bonded allows the wedge block to be driven past the teeth of the wedge until the keeper pin is tightly in place. This causes the spring tooth of the wedge block to engage one of the teeth of the wedge.
