Publication number: 20190093602Abstract: A rocket engine combustion chamber liner of the present disclosure has a combustion chamber in which fuel and oxygen are ignited thereby generating low-velocity gases. The rocket engine combustion chamber liner further has a throat integral with and in fluid communication with the combustion chamber that generates high-velocity gases from the low-velocity gases received from the combustion chamber. Additionally, the rocket engine combustion chamber has a nozzle integral with and in fluid communication with the throat through which the high-velocity gases are emitted causing thrust for a rocket. The combustion chamber, the throat, and the nozzle have a common outer surface and etched into the outer surface are a plurality of channels wherein the channels have the same width and depth.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2018Publication date: March 28, 2019Applicant: Shapefidelity, Inc.Inventor: Robert Black

Patent number: 8659685Abstract: The invention includes methods and apparatus for correcting shading non-uniformity in camera systems. A method includes capturing at least two sets of flatfield images from at least two sets of camera modules under first and second illuminant, respectively. Pixels for each image in the sets of flatfield images are then averaged to form first and second averaged flatfield images, respectively. The first averaged flatfield image is transformed using the second averaged flatfield image to create a transform image. The transform image is then saved in memory for calibrating the shading non-uniformity of the camera module.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2008Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Assignee: Aptina Imaging CorporationInventors: Scott Smith, Robert Black

Patent number: 8616247Abstract: A method for forming a cabling media includes providing a wire pair including first and second conductor members. Each of the first and second conductor members includes a respective conductor and a respective insulation cover surrounding the conductor thereof. The first and second conductor members are twisted about one another to form a twisted wire pair having a twist length that purposefully varies along a length of the twisted wire pair. The method may include: imparting a purposefully varied pretwist to the wire pair using a wire pair twist modulator; and imparting additional twist to the wire pair using a wire pair twisting device downstream of the wire pair twist modulator.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2008Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: CommScope, Inc. of North CarolinaInventors: Wayne Hopkinson, Trent Hayes, Borivoje Antonijevic, Craig Masters, Ross Beames, Eamonn Wyer, Robert Black

Patent number: 8601588Abstract: A method includes engaging in authentication operations each involving apparent use of a legitimate authenticator. Values of one or more authenticator variables are received and stored, where the authenticator variable(s) normally change in a known authenticator-specific way during the authentication operations, such as being calculated from a monotonically increasing dynamic variable. A risk analysis function is applied to the stored values to generate a risk indicator signal indicating a level of risk that the clone authenticator is in use. The risk analysis function includes detection of an abnormal change of the authenticator variable(s), such as use of non-monotonic dynamic variable values. The risk indicator signal is output to an access controller that operates, based on the level of risk indicated by the risk indicator signal, to selectively inhibit an otherwise successful authentication operation involving apparent use of the legitimate authenticator.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2011Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignee: EMC CorporationInventors: Robert Black, William Duane, Robert S. Patent number: 8260545Abstract: A method is described for generating a navigation chart. The navigation chart includes a plurality of allocated areas corresponding to symbols for a plurality of chart features. The method includes identifying an unallocated area of the navigation chart proximate to a symbol for one chart feature of the plurality of chart features. A first label and a second label are determined for the one chart feature. The first label includes a plurality of feature attribute indicators, and the second label includes a subset of the plurality of feature attribute indicators. A label is selected from among the first label and the second label based on dimensions of the unallocated area. At least a portion of the unallocated area is allocated to the selected label, and the navigation chart is displayed.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2009Date of Patent: September 4, 2012Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Sven D. Patent number: 8245959Abstract: A method for disposing of self-powered cards includes eradicating any identifying information from the card without damaging the power source in a manner that would allow unwanted materials to become exposed, and disposing of the power source. In one embodiment, the method includes first identifying the location of the power source. Eradication can take many forms, for example, damaging the magnetic strip (demagnetizing or cutting); obscuring information on the body of the card; and/or disabling the smart chip. Once all identifying information is eradicated without damaging the power source, the power source can be properly disposed of at a waste disposal site. The information can be removed by the owner of the information or by a facility that has security safeguards to protect the information. Because the identifying information is eradicated, any waste disposal site that disposes of power sources can be used, regardless of the sensitivity of the information.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2009Date of Patent: August 21, 2012Assignee: EMC CorporationInventors: Robert Black, Yong Qiao
