  • Patent number: 5058415
Abstract: A stamping press tool assembly for delivering parallel forces to a plurality of points angularly spaced around a ring-shaped workpiece, whereby the ring-shaped workpiece is positioned beneath a shouldered hub centered inside the tool assembly, and having a plurality of radial sector rams arrayed between the hub and a bottom plate. The hub receives independent and substantially equal force, providing custom stamping deformation of the workpiece in a uniform manner.

  • Patent number: 4477537
Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing a burr-free blank from an elongated sheet of flat metal stock comprisingpunching a first aperture in one surface of said metal stock, said first aperture extending only partially through said stock;simultaneously forming the lower burnished land portion of said blank;punching a second aperture in the opposite surface of said metal stock, coaxial with said first aperture, said second aperture extending only partially through said stock, said second aperture being smaller than said first aperture;simultaneously forming the upper burnished land portion of said blank, causing the material of said stock to fracture between said burnished land portions and recovering said burr-free blank. The resulting burr-free metal blank exhibits a shiny upper peripheral burnished land portion, a rough, fractured intermediate peripheral portion and a shiny lower peripheral burnished land portion, said lower land portion having a smaller circumference than said upper land portion.

  • Patent number: 4369998
Abstract: By providing two independent torsionally flexible loop systems, each incorporating a curved wire loop portion and a stabilized portion which anchors the loop portion with a resilient, torsionally flexible quality, a unique bicycle seat undercarriage is achieved which provides dual, independent, resilient loop deflection at the areas of maximum load, with resilient loop return to their original positions when the deflection force is removed. Preferably, the bicycle seat undercarriage incorporates a wire holdng and clamping bracket adapted for mounting engagement with a bicycle seat post and at least one elongated wire member securely affixed along a portion thereof to said bracket and extending from said clamped position in a substantially uniformly curved loop with its terminating end holdingly engaged with said bracket. In the preferred embodiment, a single continuous wire is employed which also forms the forward leading pommel end of the undercarriage.

  • Patent number: 4102174
Abstract: A multi-track machine press is disclosed having a base, a vertically movable ram mounted to the base, and a plurality of horizontally movable slides under the ram. A plurality of master die sets each comprising a plurality of step-height dies arrayed parallel to the motion of the slide have a lower half mounted to the slide and an upper half mounted to the corresponding portion of the ram directly over the particular slide. The slides move horizontally in unison. The upper and lower portion of each master die set come together during a work stroke for a stamping operation when the slides are at a first zero velocity position, and are indexed one die lead for a transfer operation during a deposit stroke when the slides are at a second zero velocity position. The multi-track machine press is thus capable of performing a series of separate die stamping operations while minimizing the amount of scrap from the coil strip stock fed into the press for producing parts.
