  • Patent number: 10013531
Abstract: Context based AR may include receiving a first wireless signal from a pair of context based AR glasses worn by a user. The context based AR glasses may include a display viewable by the user and a camera to image an object viewed by the user. The image of the object may be analyzed, and compared to images of objects stored in a database that includes information associated with the images of the objects. Based on a match, the object viewed by the user may be identified. Based on collaboration of the user with personnel disposed remotely from the user, and the identified object, a second wireless signal may be sent to the pair of context based AR glasses to provide information related to the collaboration, and to further superimpose the information associated with the identified object adjacent to and/or on top of the object viewed by the user.

  • Patent number: 9282436
Abstract: An example method includes connecting to a call center by a user equipment (UE) device via a voice call and receiving a request for a current location. The device is determined to be in an outdoor environment if the signal strength of satellite signals used by a global positioning system (GPS) is greater than a threshold. The device is determined to be in an indoor environment if a beacon signal strength is greater than a further threshold. If the device is in an outdoor environment, the current location is determined using a standalone or assisted GPS method. If the device is in an indoor environment, the current location is the known location of the beacon or an assisted GPS method. If neither the signal strength of the satellite signals nor the signal strength of the beacon exceeds its respective threshold, the current location is determined as a last stored location.

  • Patent number: 7711222
Abstract: A colorless tunable optical dispersion compensator (TODC) comprising a silica arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) directly coupled to a polymer thermo-optic lens. As a result of its inventive construction, the device exhibits low loss, large tuning range, low electrical consumption and is readily manufactured using standard processes. Additionally, the TODC is fully solid-state and scales to a large figure-of-merit (dispersion range times bandwidth squared).

  • Publication number: 20080019640
Abstract: A tunable optical waveguide chip for optical transforms. Roughly described, the chip includes a planar waveguide having a lens region and a plurality of individually addressable energy applicators distributed transversely across an optical path through the lens region. By individually controlling the energy applied to each of the energy applicators, a desired index of refraction profile can be induced in the lens region transversely across the optical path for performing any of a variety of optical transforms. The device may include an upstream AWG which focus a wavelength de-multiplexed signal on a focal plane within the lens region. The applicators may be thermo-optic or electro-optic, for example.

  • Publication number: 20070236813
Abstract: A magnifying apparatus removably attached to a menu, check wallet, billfold, wine list, and the like. The magnifying apparatus includes illumination means to illuminate an area viewed using the magnifying apparatus. The magnifying element may be a fresnel lens. The fresnel lens preferably has a power of 2-4 times. However, a magnification of up to 9 times or more can be used. The magnifying element may also be a standard lens preferably having a high index of refraction. It is preferable to have a high index of refraction to minimize the thickness of the lens. The standard lens or the fresnel lens is plastic, glass, polycarbon, or the like. Electronic magnification and display means may also be used.
