Patent number: 7216192Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for configuring a data storage system. One method adds a Fibre Channel device to the loop by beaconing first and second ports, displaying instructions to connect a cable, receiving an indication the cable is connected, enabling the first port, initiating a LIP, and verifying whether the cable is connected. Another method removes a Fibre Channel device from the loop by beaconing the second port, bypassing the first port, initiating a LIP, beaconing the first port, displaying instructions for disconnecting the cable, and receiving an indication the cable is disconnected. A system includes means for displaying instructions to add a Fibre Channel device on the loop and a management controller for beaconing first and second ports, displaying instructions to connect a cable, receiving an indication that the cable is connected, enabling the first port, initiating a LIP, and verifying whether the cable is connected properly.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2004Date of Patent: May 8, 2007Assignee: Pillar Data Systems, Inc.Inventors: Paul Robert Boulay, Michael Allan Brewer, Michael Lee Workman

Patent number: 6589479Abstract: The invention relates to a method of monitoring a sterilization process having an oxidation-type sterilant, said process comprising the steps of: providing an indicator compound capable of exhibiting a color change upon exposure to the sterilant, the indicator compound being free of heterocyclic nitrogen, diazo nitrogen and amino nitrogen, and selected from the group consisting of anthraquinone dyes, triarylmethane dyes and xanthene dyes; exposing the indicator compound to the sterilization process; and observing the compound for a change of colour. The invention also relates to an indicator for an ozone sterilization process. A preferred indicator compound is rosolic acid.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2001Date of Patent: July 8, 2003Assignee: Technologies of Sterilization with Ozone TSO3, Inc.Inventors: Sylvie Dufresne, Robert Boulay

Patent number: 6499778Abstract: The present invention is directed to a telescoping tool to aid in pulling wire through openings during wire installation in existing premises. The tool comprises a telescoping handle having a plurality of individual sections stacked one within the other. Each section has a first exposed end and a second end contained within the handle. The exposed end of the inner most section of the telescoping handle is provided with a wire receiving hook attached thereto for hooking a wire and allowing it to be pulled through an opening.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2001Date of Patent: December 31, 2002Inventor: Robert Boulay

Patent number: 6419157Abstract: In one method according to the invention, a security document of an undetermined size within a range of sizes is processed by capturing images corresponding to a topside and bottomside thereof sufficient to encompass the largest possible sized document and then searching through the captured image data to locate an identification code which may have been formed on any location of the document. If a symbol is found that satisfies a predetermined criteria for being an identification code, then the symbol is decoded, and the identification code for the document is utilized to control further processing of the document. Further processing subroutines of the document may include subroutines which utilize one or multiple imaging systems to verify that the document is authentic, subroutines for validating the document, and subroutines for voiding the document.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2000Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: Hand Held Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Publication number: 20020047259Abstract: A document, preferably in the form of a lottery ticket has a security system in which a substrate has thereon an encoded game data portion including a base layer printed with an ink having a first reflectance value as measured by the reflectance of a given wavelength of light and a second layer of ink having a second reflectance value together having an encoded pattern of symbols. The encoded game data portion is covered with a scratch-off layer in which improper removal of the scratch-off layer can be detected through either the change in the reflectance pattern of the encoded game data portion or by an alteration in the encoded pattern of symbols.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2001Publication date: April 25, 2002Inventors: Claude Lambert, Francois Gougeon, Robert Boulay, Denis Mondou, John C. Patent number: 6186404Abstract: The present invention is a system for voiding a security document. The system voids a security document by supplying heat to a localized area of a specially configured security document. According to the invention, conductive material is formed on a document so that at least one relatively higher resistance section is formed on the document. When a voltage is supplied to the document, a relatively high amount of heat is supplied to the document about the area of the relatively higher resistance section. Heat-sensitive material may be formed about the location of the relatively higher resistance section such that the heat sensitive material becomes visible or changes color when a voltage is supplied to the document.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1998Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: Welch Allyn Data Collection, Inc.Inventors: Michael A.
