  • Publication number: 20120276799
Abstract: A method and system for aligning nanotubes within an extensible structure such as a yarn or non-woven sheet. The method includes providing an extensible structure having non-aligned nanotubes, adding a chemical mixture to the extensible structure so as to wet the extensible structure, and stretching the extensible structure so as to substantially align the nanotubes within the extensible structure. The system can include opposing rollers around which an extensible structure may be wrapped, mechanisms to rotate the rollers independently or away from one another as they rotate to stretch the extensible structure, and a reservoir from which a chemical mixture may be dispensed to wet the extensible structure to help in the stretching process.

  • Patent number: 7601101
Abstract: An exercise apparatus has an exercise platform and an exercise device support structure. The exercise platform has a base and a lid, the platform defining an interior space accessible by moving the lid from a closed to an open position with respect to the base. The exercise device support structure is a tower having a plurality of exercise device attachment points. The platform is configured to store the tower when not in use, and support the tower in a vertical position when in use. Exercise devices, such as resistive elements, may be connected to the tower and/or the platform at various points of connection for performing a variety of exercises.

  • Publication number: 20080031802
Abstract: Methods of treating single walled and multiwalled carbon nanotubes with ozone are provided. The carbon nanotubes are treated by contacting the carbon nanotubes with ozone at a temperature range between 0° C. and 100° C. to yield functionalized nanotubes which are greater in weight than the untreated carbon nanotubes. The carbon nanotubes treated according to methods of the invention can be used to prepare complex structures such as three dimensional networks or rigid porous structures which can be utilized to form electrodes for fabrication of improved electrochemical capacitors. Useful catalyst supports are prepared by contacting carbon nanotube structures such as carbon nanotube aggregates, three dimensional networks or rigid porous structures with ozone in the temperature range between 0° C. and 100° C.

  • Publication number: 20060226682
Abstract: A furniture member cushion includes an exterior cover having opposed walls defining an interior cavity and a cushion fill opening. A first slit is created through the cover proximate to the cushion fill opening. A foam cushion member is disposed through the cushion fill opening and substantially fills the interior cavity. A second slit is created in the cushion member, and aligned with the first slit when the cushion member is disposed in the interior cavity. A plurality of seams are sewn through the opposed walls and the cushion member, at least one aligned with the first and second slits.
