  • Publication number: 20040068883
Abstract: The builder's square aids in cutting sheet material, such as full sheets of plywood, and in particular reduces the time required for cutting. The square comprises a short leg and a long leg connected in an L-shape. The short leg is of greater height than the long leg so that it can bear against one edge of the sheet of plywood to be cut. There is a clamping member at the distal end of the long leg so that the square can be clamped to the plywood. The builder's square also provides improved accuracy and safety for the user.

  • Patent number: 6553315
Abstract: A method and apparatus for surveying a three dimensional sub-surface geological structure having seismic scatterers includes establishing an acquisition system (19) having at least two substantially vertical arrays of sensors (20) disposed within the geological structure. Each array (20) includes multiple directional sensing receivers 30 adapted to receive seismic energy (28, 97) produced from the seismic scatterers (24) in response to at least one seismic disturbance (27). The multiple directional sensing receivers (30) are adapted to provide a measurement of the received seismic energy. A recorder records the measurements of the received seismic energy for producing a complete vector field response of the seismic scatterers to the at least one seismic disturbance. Lastly, a processor processes the complete vector field to generate a three-dimensional image.

  • Publication number: 20030023329
Abstract: An audio controller circuit to generate audible sounds for use on a computer system comprising a digital audio controller that generates digital audio signals reproducible by a digital audio device. The digital controller also operates in conjunction with a mixed-signal codec to generate analog audio signals reproducible by an analog audio device. The controller circuit is capable of delivering audio signals to a plurality of audio output connectors, each configured to accept a mating connector coupled to an external audio device. The audio controller circuit transmits audio signals to one output at a time. The circuit detects whether the external audio device coupled to an output connector is an analog or digital device and transmits the appropriate analog or digital audio signals to the output device.

  • Patent number: 5784708
Abstract: A computing system includes a memory bus, an input/output bus, a main memory, and an input/output adapter. The memory bus provides information transfer. The input/output bus also provides information transfer. For example the input/output bus is an input/output bus onto which is connected input/output devices. The main memory is connected to the memory bus. The main memory includes a page directory. The page directory stores translations. Each translation in the page directory includes a portion of an address for data transferred over the input/output bus, for example, the page address portion of I/O bus address. Each translation in the page directory also is indexed by a portion of an address for a memory location within the main memory, for example, the page address portion of the address for the memory location. The input/output adapter is connected to the memory bus and the input/output bus. The input/output adapter includes an input/output translation look-aside buffer.

  • Patent number: 5586297
Abstract: A computing system is presented which includes a memory, an input/output adapter and a processor. The processor includes a write back cache in which dirty data may be stored. When performing a coherent write from the input/output adapter to the memory, a block of data is written from the input/output adapter to a memory location within the memory. The block of data contains less data than a full cache line in the write back cache. The write back cache is searched to determine whether the write back cache contains data for the memory location. When the search determines that the write back cache contains data for the memory location a full cache line which contains the data for the memory location is purged.

  • Patent number: 5535352
Abstract: A computing system includes a main memory and an input/output adapter. The input/output adapter accesses a translation map. The translation map maps input/output page numbers to memory address page numbers. Entries to the translation map are generated so that each entry includes an address of a data page in the main memory and transaction configuration information. The transaction configuration information is utilized by the input/output adapter during data transactions to and from the data page.

  • Patent number: 4681717
Abstract: Chemical preparation techniques involving co-precipitation of metals are used to provide micro-structural characteristics necessary in order to produce ZnO varistors and their precursors for high field applications. The varistors produced have homogeneous and/or uniform dopant distributions and a submicron average grain size with a narrow size distribution. Precursor powders are prepared via chemical precipitation techniques and varistors made by sintering uniaxially and/or isostatically pressed pellets. Using these methods, varistors were made which were suitable for high-power applications, having values of breakdown field, E.sub.B, in the 10-100 kV/cm range, .alpha.>30 and densities in the range of 65-99% of theoretical, depending on both composition and sintering temperature.
