  • Patent number: 11115927
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to control communication data rates of low-energy devices. An example apparatus includes a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) radio, and a power manager to determine whether to divide a first computation task into at least a second and a third computation task based on (1) energy stored in a power supply associated with the BLE radio and (2) a charging rate of the power supply, and when the first computation task is to be executed by the BLE radio and the first computation task is divided based on the determination, instruct the BLE radio to enter a sleep mode after the second computation task is executed, and invoke the BLE radio to transition from the sleep mode to an operating mode to execute the third computation task, the invoking in response to a measurement associated with the power supply satisfying an energy threshold.

  • Publication number: 20080057527
Abstract: A method for detecting alteration in a kinase or phosphatase reaction is provided. In the method, a test substance is contacted to a peptide substrate including a reporter compound and amino acids under conditions in which the kinase or phosphatase is active. The substrate is cleaved with a carboxypeptidase. Phosphorylation of the substrate affects cleavage by the carboxypeptidase. Output of the reporter compound is detected. The reporter compound exhibits a different output property when bound to at least one amino acid of the substrate when compared to when it is not bound to amino acids. Change in output compared to output of a control sample that has not been contacted with the test substance is a measure of the alteration in the kinase or phosphatase reaction.

  • Publication number: 20080026407
Abstract: A mutant hydrolase optionally fused to a protein of interest is provided. The mutant hydrolase is capable of forming a bond with a substrate for the corresponding nonmutant (wild-type) hydrolase which is more stable than the bond formed between the wild-type hydrolase and the substrate. Substrates for hydrolases comprising one or more functional groups are also provided, as well as methods of using the mutant hydrolase and the substrates of the invention. Also provided is a fusion protein capable of forming a stable bond with a substrate and cells which express the fusion protein.

  • Publication number: 20070184509
Abstract: Methods for detecting transferase activity of a sample are provided. Transferase activity detected includes kinase and phosphatase activity. The method includes providing a substrate having a reporter compound conjugated thereto. A quantity of the substrate is added to a solution containing the sample. The sample is incubated with the substrate under conditions where the sample is active for a time sufficient for kinase or phosphatase activity to take place. An exopeptidase is added to the solution containing the sample. Output of the reporter compound is detected.

  • Publication number: 20050026171
Abstract: A method and kit is provided for enhancing the tolerance of an assay reagent to compounds in an assay sample, the assay reagent including a luciferase enzyme. The method includes contacting the luciferase with a tolerance enhancement agent in an amount sufficient to substantially protect luciferase enzyme activity from interference of the compound and minize interference by at least about 10% relative to an assay not having tolerance enhancement agent.
