  • Patent number: 7802217
Abstract: Broadly speaking, the embodiments of the present invention fill the need for a method of designing semiconductor device chips with reduced power consumption. The embodiments describe methods that are activity-based and are used for power optimization. The embodiments provide methods of selecting instances of a block of a chip to be replaced by either gate-length bias (GBIAS) cells or high-threshold-voltage (HVT) cells with minimal impact (little or no impact) on the overall performance of the chip. Only instances not on the critical path(s) are selected. Instances with low activities and high slack thresholds are chosen to be replaced by either GBIAS cells or HVT cells. By replacing the instances with low activities and high slack threshold, the performance impact on the block and chip is minimized. The replacement results in net power reduction, which is critical to advanced device technologies.

The first flexible panel includes a first longitudinal edge. The second flexible panel includes a second longitudinal edge. The first seal joins the first and second panels near the first and second longitudinal edges and runs generally parallel to the first and second edges. The second seal joins the first and second panels and is generally oblique to the first seal. At least one of the panels extends across at least one of the seals to form the tab, which includes an attachment feature. The attachment feature may be a piece of tape affixed to the tab. The attachment feature may be a strip of fabric or other reinforcement material melted into the tab, sealed within the tab or affixed to the tab via an adhesive. • Patent number: 7802142
Abstract: Tracing of test information from a hardware device for debugging is formatted for transmission via a high-speed serial protocol. Data from various components in the hardware device is transmitted to an external test board using high speed serial ports. The number of serial ports needed for data transfer is significantly less than a complimentary parallel port configuration. Additional functional blocks on the chip process the data for high speed serial output. The functional blocks format information into subchannels, arbitrate data, append protocol, perform data integrity checks, and serialize the data. The additional blocks built on the chip to support the serial ports consume less chip space than the space consumed by the number of parallel ports required to provide equivalent data transfer rates. The process operates in near real time and may use time stamping to correlate and reconstruct data from different information sources.

  • Patent number: 7799280
Abstract: A non-planar, tortuous path chemical preconcentrator has a high internal surface area having a heatable sorptive coating that can be used to selectively collect and concentrate one or more chemical species of interest from a fluid stream that can be rapidly released as a concentrated plug into an analytical or microanalytical chain for separation and detection. The non-planar chemical preconcentrator comprises a sorptive support structure having a tortuous flow path. The tortuosity provides repeated twists, turns, and bends to the flow, thereby increasing the interfacial contact between sample fluid stream and the sorptive material. The tortuous path also provides more opportunities for desorption and readsorption of volatile species. Further, the thermal efficiency of the tortuous path chemical preconcentrator is comparable or superior to the prior non-planar chemical preconcentrator.

  • Patent number: 7798400
Abstract: Method of and Apparatus for an Internet-based network for shipping, tracking and delivering a shipment of packages from a point of shipment pickup to point of destination. At the point of shipment pickup a digital image of the shipping documents are captured and processed to extract the original shipment tracking number and optional shipping information. This information is automatically encoded into digital image files prior to transmission to an application server, and stored in a shipping information DBMS. While the shipment of packages is in transit, from the point of shipment pickup to the first scanning point in the Internet-based network, early billing processing of the shipment is initiated and facilitated to speed up time of payment.
