  • Patent number: 7379549
Abstract: Access to a data storage arrangement is provided in dependence upon a public/private key pair, the public key being held by the data storage arrangement and the private key by a removable memory device. The public key is securely held in a user directory of authorized users on the data storage arrangement, and is associated with a local version number. Another copy of the user directory is securely held by the removable memory device and is associated with an external version number. When the removable memory device is connected to the data storage arrangement to enable authentication, these version numbers are compared and the older version of the user directory is replaced with the later version. In this fashion updates to the list of authorized users can be propagated among suitably adapted devices without the use of a network.

  • Patent number: 7377966
Abstract: An adsorptive filter/member for adsorbing a gaseous adsorbate. The filter includes two layers of a flexible polymeric material to form an area therebetween. Fasteners are located at predetermined areas across the two layer outer surfaces, the fasteners extending from the outer surface of one layer to the outer surface of the other layer. The fasteners subdivide the area into a plurality of substantially enclosed chambers. Adsorptive media is disposed within each of the plurality of chambers. The chambers are adapted to substantially evenly distribute adsorptive media throughout the filter. Throughbores extend through the filter, and receive attachment members for mounting the filter to a surface. A gaseous adsorbate flow path is in gaseous communication with one of the outer surfaces of the two layers. Each of the two layers' polymeric materials includes pores that are permeable to the gaseous adsorbate, yet are substantially impermeable to the adsorptive media.

  • Patent number: 7380173
Abstract: A method and system for ordering and aggregating log streams. Log streams for events from different sources are received. If different sources have different recording cycles, or time epochs, that lead to different temporal granularities, then all of the log streams are combined into a single time epoch that is equal to the longest time epoch. Log streams from sources having shorter time epochs continue to retain information about their original time epochs, in order to retain information about the order of the events in those log streams. The log streams are re-ordered, both before and after being integrated into the aggregate log, by acquiring additional data from the different sources, thus permitting the likely cause/effect relationship between events.
