Patent number: 7996939Abstract: A collapsible hydraulically operated ambulance cot having a support frame, a wheeled base, a support mechanism disposed therebetween, and a lift system for hydraulically moving the upper frame relative to the lower frame is disclosed. The lift system permits a single attendant to raise the cot from a lowered position to a raised position, and an infinite number of positions therebetween, and to raise the wheeled base relative to the support frame to situate the cot onto an elevated surface such as the transport deck of an ambulance. A manual override is also provided to conserve battery power and as a back-up in no-power situations. It is to be appreciated that the above described manual override mode may be used when raising or lowering the cot without power assist, dropping the undercarriage when unloading from a vehicle, and lifting the undercarriage when loading into a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2005Date of Patent: August 16, 2011Assignee: Ferno-Washington, Inc.Inventors: William H. Patent number: 6446285Abstract: A stretcher table assembly is provided for attachment over an ambulance stretcher. The stretcher table assembly includes a tiltable support surface for securing emergency medical equipment used during an emergency thereon. The tiltable support surface may be inclined to permit technicians to more easily view the equipment secured thereon. Additionally, the support surface has a grid of holes upon which anchoring devices may be positioned. The anchoring devices permit emergency medical equipment to quickly and easily secure to the support surface without the need of adjusting a strap or buckle. A pair of legs extends away from the support frame and has attachment feet for engaging the rails of the stretcher. Each of the legs is secured to the rails by an attached securing mechanism. The securing device releasably holds the tiltable stretcher table assembly in place over the stretcher.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2000Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: FernO-Washington, Inc.Inventor: Robert C. Patent number: 6431505Abstract: IV pole having mounted at an upper end a holding assembly comprising a head and a plunger, and at a lower end a docking assembly. The head on an upper portion includes at least two opposed upwardly extending projections suitably for hanging IV fluid containers. The plunger is movable between an extended position in which the plunger is held a distance above the height of the projections, and a retracted position in which the plunger is proximate to the projections such that removal of IV fluid containers hung on the projections is prevented. The smooth profile of the head and plunger greatly reduces the risk of the IV pole getting snagged on an obstruction or causing injury to rescue personnel. The docking assembly permits the IV pole to be removably secured to a docking port provided to a structural member and to be lowered to a stowed position.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2001Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Assignee: Ferno-Washington, Inc.Inventors: Robert C. Chinn, James N. Chinn
