  • Patent number: 7673873
Abstract: A tray for receiving printed media from a printer, the tray including a print well, a ramp and at least two side walls. There is at least one support member extending from the tray adapted to engage the printer and position the tray such that the print well is laterally offset from the exit slot of the printer and prints exiting from the printer overhang one of the side walls of the tray. A ledge feature projects from the side wall that exiting prints overhang, the ledge feature configured to bias movement of the printed media exiting the printer and in contact the ledge feature to fall into the print well.

  • Patent number: 7330201
Abstract: A printer that applies donor material from donor patches on a donor web to a receiver medium using a thermal printhead that generates heat and a method for operating such a printer are provided. The method comprises the steps of: receiving a print order requesting the printing of a quantity of images; determining a temperature of the printhead; printing a designated number of the quantity of the images in a sequence; determining a length of time of a programmed delay; delaying the printing for the determined length of time of the programmed delay; and printing remaining images from the quantity of images. The length of each programmed delay is determined by using the temperature of the printhead and a time rate of cooling of the printhead and, is determined in a manner that provides a sufficient cooling time to prevent the printhead from reaching a maximum printhead temperature during printing.

  • Patent number: 6676316
Abstract: A media cassette adapted to hold multiple media types and an imaging apparatus which includes the media cassette. The media cassette includes a device for identifying the type of media loaded in the cassette to permit an adjustment of printer electronics based on the identified media in the cassette. The cassette comprises a cover that includes a section that is adapted to identify a a type of media. The identifying section can include a reflective surface or label which cooperates with a sensor in the imaging apparatus to detect and/or not detect light that is reflected back to the sensor. This signal is then used by the imaging apparatus to identify the type of media in the cassette, and adjust imaging operations based on the type of media in the cassette.
