  • Patent number: 4064109
Abstract: Perfluoroalkylene ether bibenzoxazole polymers are prepared by the polycondensation of perfluoroalkylene ether bis(o-aminophenol) compounds and perfluoroalkylene ether-imidate and -thioimidate esters synthesized by the reaction of certain perfluoroalkylene ether dinitriles with trifluoroethanol or ethanethiol. In addition to possessing high thermooxidative stability and good low temperature viscoelastic properties, the elastomeric polymers have a superior hydrolytic stability. This combination of properties renders the polymers particularly useful as seals and sealants in severe environments.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 1976
Date of Patent: December 20, 1977
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air Force
    Inventor: Robert C. Evers
  • Patent number: 4053498
Abstract: Hexafluoropropylene oxide-terminated perfluoroalkylene ether-imidate and -thioimidate esters are prepared by the reaction of certain perfluoroalkylene ether dinitriles with trifluoroethanol or ethanethiol. The compounds are useful as monomers in synthesizing thermooxidatively stable, low glass transition temperature perfluoroalkylene ether bibenzoxazole polymers with improved hydrolytic stability properties.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 1976
Date of Patent: October 11, 1977
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air Force

  • Patent number: 4005142
Abstract: As new compositions of matter, 1,14-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl)perfluoro-5,10-dimethyl-3,6,9,12-tetraoxa tetradecane and 1,17-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl)perfluoro-3,6,9,15-tetraoxaheptadecane. The compounds are useful as monomers in synthesizing perfluoroalkylene ether bibenzoxazole polymers possessing thermooxidative stability and superior low temperature viscoelastic properties.

  • Patent number: 3994861
Abstract: Long chain-perfluoroalkylene ether bibenzoxazole polymers are synthesized by the polycondensation of long chain-perfluoroalkylene ether bis(o-aminophenol) compounds and perfluoroalkylene ether diimidate esters. The elastomeric polymers have a combination of high thermooxidative stability and superior low temperature visco-elastic properties that render them particularly useful for wide temperature range applications, such as seals, sealants and the like.

    Filed: September 4, 1975
Date of Patent: November 30, 1976
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air Force
