  • Publication number: 20130269629
Abstract: A buckle (10) is preferably formed of identical portions (11) each including a metallic base member (12) and a plastic cover (22) molded around a portion of the base member (12). The base member includes a first flange (14) having a slot (16) therein, and a second flange (15) having an opening (18) therein. The cover (22) includes a body portion (23) which carries a magnet (25). A tab (26) and projection (27) form a hook on the body portion (23), and a slot (29) is formed on the body portion (23). When the two portions (11) are attached together to form the buckle (10), the magnets (25) are adjacent to each other and the hook of one portion (11) is received in the slot (29) of the other portion (11). To form a collar (30), one end of a strap (31) is attached to a portion (11) through the slot (16) and the other end of the strap (31) is attached through the other portion (11) through its slot (16). The openings (18) are also aligned so that a leash or the like may be connected to the buckle (10).

  • Publication number: 20130269628
Abstract: A strap adjuster to adjust the length of a strap, such as used to form a pet collar, includes side rails and end rails defining a body. A central cross member and spaced ribs extend between the side rails, the central cross member, ribs, and end rails acting to define a plurality of openings. One side of the strap is looped around the central cross member and a second layer of the strap is passed into the strap adjuster through an opening between one rib and one end rail and passes out of the strap adjuster through an opening between the other rib and the other end rail. The ribs include notches or a textured upper surface to provide increased friction with a bottom surface of the strap.

  • Patent number: 7165380
Abstract: A connector (10) includes a housing (34) and an arm (43) pivotally connected to the housing (34). A hook (48) is formed on one end of the arm (43) and a spring (49) is positioned between the arm (43) and the housing (34). The connector (10) can be used to attach two items of many configurations together, but it is particularly suited to attach strap ends of an item such as a halter (11) having a strap (12) and a strap (13) interconnected by a plurality of tab straps (20, 21, 22). The strap (12) is interrupted to form a portion (32) carrying the connector (10) and another portion (31) carrying an o-ring (29) which can be engaged between the hook (48) and the housing (34).

  • Patent number: 6453851
Abstract: An animal restraint leash (10) includes a lead (12) having a handle loop (20) formed at one end and a clasp (18) positioned at the other end to allow leash (10) to be attached to an animal. A grip member (22) is slidably received around the lead (12) and provides the user with a second grip area with which to maintain control over an animal's movements. The grip member (22) may be moved into various positions along the length of the lead (12), however, when a gripping force is applied to the grip member (22), preferably at the area of a depression (30), the grip member (22) will engage the lead (12) so as to maintain control over the animal. By sliding the grip member (22) to a desired position along the length of the lead (12) and then exerting a gripping force to the grip member (22), various control lengths of the animal restraint leash (10) may be maintained.

  • Patent number: 6378466
Abstract: A buckle (10) for a collar (15) includes a plug portion (11) and a socket portion (12). The plug portion (11) includes pivotable arms (35 or 47) having lugs (36 or 50) formed on the ends thereof. A spring (40 or 55) biases the outer ends of the arms (35 or 47) away from each other. The socket portion (12) has an open end (27) and opposed side openings (28). When the arms (35 or 47) are received through the open end (27), the lugs (36 or 50) will be received through the side openings (28) to attach the plug portion (11) to the socket portion (12).

  • Patent number: 6216641
Abstract: An adjustable length leash (10) includes a handle portion (11) having a grip (13) and a neck (20) extending from the grip (13) for taking up undesired length in the lead (12). The lead (12) attaches to the neck (20) by being knotted through an aperture (22). A minor flange (32) provided at the top of the neck (20) helps retain the loops of the lead (12) on the neck (20) to achieve a desired lead length. A catch flange (30) is capable of catching the lead (12) at the bottom of the neck (20) such that one who utilizes the leash (10) may adjust the length of the lead (12) by winding the lead (12) around the neck (20) until the desired length extends from catch flange (30). The catch flange (30) includes a lead lock (36) which allows for a more secure fixing of the lead (12) length.

  • Patent number: 5915335
Abstract: A dog restraining harness (10) for use in an automobile includes an adjustable collar (20) and girth straps (30) that securely fasten around a dog's upper and lower chest area. The ends of the collar strap (20) are connected, at the dog's back, by a fastening device (50) positioned between them and in close proximity to the ends thereof, the ends themselves attaching to respective metal rings (15, 16). The ends of the girth strap (30) are also connected at the dogs back by a similar fastening device (52) with the ends themselves being attached to the same metal rings (15, 16) as the ends of the collar strap (20). Also connected between the metal rings (15, 16) is a harness strap (12) which provides an insertion area for a car's seatbelt (S). The seatbelt (S) is inserted through the area provided by the harness strap (12) and connected in the normal manner. A padded chest piece (40) may be connected between the collar (20) and girth straps (30).
