  • Patent number: 5915335
Abstract: A dog restraining harness (10) for use in an automobile includes an adjustable collar (20) and girth straps (30) that securely fasten around a dog's upper and lower chest area. The ends of the collar strap (20) are connected, at the dog's back, by a fastening device (50) positioned between them and in close proximity to the ends thereof, the ends themselves attaching to respective metal rings (15, 16). The ends of the girth strap (30) are also connected at the dogs back by a similar fastening device (52) with the ends themselves being attached to the same metal rings (15, 16) as the ends of the collar strap (20). Also connected between the metal rings (15, 16) is a harness strap (12) which provides an insertion area for a car's seatbelt (S). The seatbelt (S) is inserted through the area provided by the harness strap (12) and connected in the normal manner. A padded chest piece (40) may be connected between the collar (20) and girth straps (30).

  • Patent number: 5743216
Abstract: A combined harness and lead (10) for use in restraining and controlling an animal has a cord member (11) which defines a lead portion (12) and a harness portion (14). The harness portion (14) includes a neck loop (35) and a body loop (36) which may be selectively adjusted by way of an adjustment slide (15). A floating retaining slide (16) further defines the neck loop (35) and body loop (36). The adjustment slide (15) clampingly engages the cord member (11) so as to maintain said harness portion (14) in position on the animal's body.

  • Patent number: 5713308
Abstract: An animal restraint and control harness (10) for use in conjunction with a leash (11) has a cord portion (15), a plurality of adjustment slides (16), a control slide (18), and a leash attachment eyelet (19). The cord portion (15) is threaded through the adjustment slides (16) and the control slide (18), as well as through the leash attachment eyelet (19), to form a plurality of loop portions (36) and a plurality of bridge portions (38). A first loop portion (36a) is adapted to fit around the neck of an animal, and a second loop portion (36b) is adapted to be fitted around the chest of an animal. A third loop portion (36c) is connected to the leash (11) by the leash attachment eyelet (19) and communicates with the second loop portion (36b) by way of the control slide (18) such that when the animal strains against the leash (11), the cord (15) is slidably translated in the control slide (18) so as to increase the size of the third loop portion (36c) and to decrease the size of the second loop portion (36b).
