  • Patent number: 6042925
Abstract: A sculpted launderable dust control mat is provided. The dust control mat includes a pile fiber upper surface and a rubber backing disposed beneath the pile fiber upper surface. The pile fiber upper surface is formed of solution dyed nylon yarns which have under gone selective sculpting through controlled exposure to a fiber degrading composition.

  • Patent number: 6033608
Abstract: A process for the production of a foam rubber tree bark-configured article having a manmade textile backing is provided. The inventive process involves the vulcanization of NBR or SBR including a chemical blowing agent, and optionally including EPDM as an ozone-resistance agent, over a silicon-base mold which is a negative relief mold of at least a portion of tree bark, and with a backing adhered to, and not easily removed from, the unmolded side of the rubber. Such a backing is either 100% polyester or 100% nylon, which provides an excellent, long-lasting, durable, easily colored, fast-drying article for use in outdoor camouflage applications. The article itself, as well as clothing, footwear, and shelter articles incorporating the inventive product, are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5968631
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a floor mat and method for producing the same. The floor mat includes a plurality of tufts extending from a carrier fabric which is joined by a layer of adhesive to a backing having at least one layer of vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer. The process for production of the floor mat includes applying an olefin based adhesive to the back of a primary tufted fabric which has been preheated. The process for production includes the further separate step of applying a sheet of vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer of between about 20 and 40 mils thickness with or without a layer of reinforcing material to the preheated adhesive backed primary tufted fabric. A second layer of vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer may thereafter be applied following another heating step.

  • Patent number: 5928446
Abstract: A process for the application of tear resistant side and edge strip materials to a rubber base sheet of a launderable dust control mat is provided. The process involves the in-line mating of first and second strips of carboxylated rubber to the longitudinal borders of a rubber sheet and the in-line mating of third and fourth strips of carboxylated rubber to the leading and tailing edges of a rubber sheet, respectively, all by means of a series of pressure rolls. The process permits separate rubber sheet and side strip materials to be joined in a continuous or semicontinuous operation immediately prior to assembly of a mat thereby enhancing material handling efficiencies. Dust mats produced thereby are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5902662
Abstract: A lightweight dust control mat having enhanced resistance to oxidation and ozonation is provided. The mat includes a rubber backing sheet with a base rubber of NBR or SBR mixed with a polar polymer additive and a chemical blowing agent. The ratio of the base rubber to the polymer additive is between about 1.2 and 9. Following vulcanization, the rubber sheet has a specific gravity of less than about 0.98 and a Bayer ozone cracking incidence factor of 4 or less.

  • Patent number: 5834086
Abstract: A process for the application of tear resistant edge strip material to a rubber base sheet of a launderable dust control mat is provided. The process involves the in-line mating of first and second strips of carboxilated rubber to the longitudinal borders of a rubber sheet by means of a series of pressure rolls. The process permits separate rubber sheet and side strip materials to be joined in a continuous or semi-continuous operation immediately prior to assembly of a mat thereby enhancing material handling efficiencies. An apparatus for carrying out the invention is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5227214
Abstract: A cleated dust control mat having a plurality of rows of elliptical cleats located at an angle to the border of the mat with the cleats in each row being parallel to the other cleats in the row and being substantially perpendicular to the cleats in the next adjacent rows of cleats. A second set of small circular cleats is located between the elliptical cleats in each row equally spaced from adjacent elliptical cleats in each row.

  • Patent number: 4902465
Abstract: A cleated dust control mat having a rubber or rubber-like backing in which the longitudinal edges of the rubber-like backing projecting outward from the pile surface thereon is smooth and thicker than the body of the rubber or rubber-like backing material. The thicker edges are produced by using a perforated silicone pad which is narrower than the desired width and has beveled edges thereon to provide a curved transition therein between the body and the longitudinal edges of the backing material.
