    Abstract: A computer-implemented method for transporting a message includes receiving the message from a first application via a first communication protocol, the first message including data indicating a destination for the message, generating a gateway address from the data indicating the destination, a gateway associated with the gateway address being accessible by the destination, and transporting the message to the gateway according to the gateway address using a second communication protocol, in which the first and second communication protocols are different, and in which the second communication protocol is a disruption-tolerant networking protocol.
