  • Patent number: 4690475
Abstract: A computer harness adaptive tester for testing pins, wires, voltage and continuity in circuits between electronically controlled devices and an electronic control module; the devices are interconnected to the module by an electrical harness composed of a plurality of discrete insulated wires; the tester is composed of a coupler adapted to be interconnected electrically between one end of the harness and the electronic control module through a pair of jumper cables; and the coupler is connected through a secondary harness to a remote pin-out box where testing can be conveniently conducted.

  • Patent number: 4402306
Abstract: A thermal energy collecting and storing device including a thermally insulated storage vessel including a heat retaining material holding chamber, a solar portal in the top of the vessel, the solar portal including a tubular member having upper and lower portions extending from the top of the vessel into the heat retaining material holding chamber and spaced from the side walls of the vessel and wherein the spacing between the side walls and the tubular member forms a second peripheral chamber about the solar portal. Substantially filling the holding chamber as well as a portion of the second peripheral chamber is a material having a low melting point and good heat retaining capacity. The peripheral chamber includes an expansion area above the heat retaining material so that the material is allowed to expand when heated. Means are provided for closing the lower portion of the tubular member and for transmitting energy to the heat retaining material.

  • Patent number: 3984083
Abstract: The secondary overspeed assembly for a cable climber or hoist is provided that includes an overspeed sensor assembly. The sensor assembly consists of a bar with a pair of members or weights whose movement is restricted by a spring member, and wherein these weights can move outward only at an overspeed condition.

  • Patent number: 3968865
Abstract: A cable climber safety lock is provided that includes a sensing device. The safety lock is installed above and attached to a cable climber, and the safety lock can also be attached to other types of hoists. The safety lock gradually locks onto the cable as the climber accelerates beyond a predetermined speed down the cable and the unit also senses any climber movement on the cable after power is shut off.

  • Patent number: 3936622
Abstract: A load limiter is provided for a lift hoist wherein the upper portion is fastened to the lift hoist and the lower portion is fastened to a load. A micro-switch is mounted on the upper half and actuated by movement of the lower half and is provided with an adjustment screw that can be adjusted to vary the load which will break a circuit of the lift hoist. The micro-switch is used in series with an operating switch to shut off the hoist motor when the load limit is reached to prevent damage to equipment or injury to personnel.

  • Patent number: 3936033
Abstract: A hand winch for scaffolds including a pair of cable drums for separately winding a pair of cables used for simultaneously raising one end of a scaffold. A shaft carrying a spur gear is fixed to the winch frame and the cable drums are journalled on the fixed shaft. A planet gear carrier is secured to the cable drums and rotates therewith with one gear of each pair of planet gears meshing with the spur gear. A hand crank is journalled in the frame and on the fixed shaft and carries a member with an internal spur gear thereon which meshes with the other of the pair of planet gears so that the drive provides a 161/2 to 1 mechanical advantage.
