  • Patent number: 10080748
Abstract: The present invention provides methods of attenuating or preventing brain injury mediated damage in the central nervous system by attenuating or preventing leukotriene-mediated events following a brain injury or long-term neuroinflammation after brain injury, in Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and post-traumatic stress disorder. The methods comprise administering at least one 5-lipoxygenase activating protein (FLAP) inhibitor either before or after the brain injury. The method finds use in the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, post-traumatic stress disorder and other brain injuries associated with production of leukotrienes in the central nervous system. Preferably the FLAP inhibitor is administered intranasally and preferably for certain high risk individuals prophylactically prior to any potential brain injury event.

  • Patent number: 7880139
Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus and methods for depositing solvent-free molecules on surfaces of samples, with particular application to imaging mass spectrometry. A vacuum chamber is configured to have controllable matrix translation apparatus for controlling the position of one or more solvent-free matrices within the chamber. Sublimation apparatus is used to sublimate molecules from the solid phase matrices. One or more samples are placed separately from the solvent-free matrices within the chamber. Condensation apparatus individually cools the samples to deposit sublimated molecules on the samples. Controllable sample translation apparatus is used to control the position of the samples within the chamber. Rotatable sample holding apparatus may be used to hold and move the samples to allow deposition of molecules on multiple samples at substantially the same time.

  • Publication number: 20040044664
Abstract: A method, system and computer for sharing customer information, such as travel-based information, among a plurality of electronic storage facilities are provided. The travel-based information may include at least one of a travel profile, current trip information, customer service incident information, customer contact log data, customer service suggestion information, and prior trip information associated with the traveler. The travel-based information stored by the various storage facilities is cross-referenced by an identifier that is associated with a respective traveler and is maintained by a master data store. By accessing the travel-based information cross-referenced by a respective identifier, a comprehensive view of the travel-based information associated with the traveler designated by the respective identifier may be provided.

  • Patent number: 6024279
Abstract: A bulk container is formed from a blank of corrugated sheet material having wall fold lines demarcating end wall panels and side wall panels, and flap fold lines demarcating top and bottom closure flaps. A T-shaped slot in the blank separates adjacent closure flaps from one another. A first portion of each slot extends inwardly from the free outer edges of the closure flaps and terminates at a second portion which extends substantially perpendicular to the first portion. The first portion of each slot is substantially aligned with a corresponding wall fold line. The second portion of each slot extends substantially colinearly with a flap fold line. The slots reduce binding and bunching of the thick multilayer reinforced walls found in conventional bulk container constructions, and at the same time avoid formation of through-holes at the corners of the container.

  • Patent number: 5757474
Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring characteristics of a piece of material, typically semiconductor materials including photovoltaic devices. The characteristics may include dislocation defect density, grain boundaries, reflectance, external LBIC, internal LBIC, and minority carrier diffusion length. The apparatus includes a light source, an integrating sphere, and a detector communicating with a computer. The measurement or calculation of the characteristics is calibrated to provide accurate, absolute values. The calibration is performed by substituting a standard sample for the piece of material, the sample having a known quantity of one or more of the relevant characteristics. The quantity measured by the system of the relevant characteristic is compared to the known quantity and a calibration constant is created thereby.
