  • Patent number: 8523115
Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and program product and methods for controlling boundary layer flow across an aerodynamic structure which can produce separate regions of flow structures at different strengths by means of dielectric-barrier-discharge (DBD) type plasmas, are provided. An example of such apparatus provides plasma regions that are capable of being individually controlled by voltage and/or frequency, and modulated for the purposes of flow control. The apparatus includes an electrode assembly fitted with electrodes on either side of a dielectric such that different electrode geometries and arrangements create isolated regions of plasmas which results in separate regions of flow structures. These regions may be further controlled and modulated by the use of electronic-switching to produce irregularly shaped flow structures and strengths including those having a primarily vertical component.

  • Patent number: 6524108
Abstract: A three dimensional family tree display has a plurality of family member blocks with each block having a plurality of edges and having a family tree member identification thereon. Each block has a plurality of openings therein and at least one edge of each block has a connected portion for connecting one edge of one block to one edge of a second block. Each pair of edge connected blocks being illustrative of the spousal relationship with the family members on each of the pair of edge connected blocks. A plurality of connecting tubes or rods are each attached to one opening in each of a pair of blocks to thereby connect the two blocks. The rod connected blocks being illustrative of the parent child relationship of the connected blocks. A base supports a plurality of attached blocks so that a family tree is displayed in a three dimensional display. Each block can have a family name as well as photographs of the family member thereon.

  • Publication number: 20020172924
Abstract: This invention is a block which holds a picture and or a plaque. This block can be connected to another block by tubular members which are inserted vertically into the blocks allowing them to rotate 360-degrees. It is essential that the blocks be able to move in this way to allow for balanced and uncluttered appearance. These blocks can each represent a family member and be arranged by family relationship. Parents connect to children and children connect to grandchildren and so on. A relationship that can not be shown can be written on the plaque. In business, the president could be connected to the vice presidents, and vice presidents could be connected to the managers and so on.

  • Patent number: 5065962
Abstract: A digital power controller for an aircraft having a computer controlled propulsion system is disclosed. A movable handle is in electronic communication with a computer of the propulsion system. The handle is positionable is a neutral location for maintaining the aircraft at a substantially constant velocity and for resetting power command functions. The handle is also positionable in locations forward the neutral location for commanding increasing acceleration rates of the aircraft. The handle is positionable in locations aft the neutral location for commanding increasing deceleration rates of the aircraft. A switch associated with the movable handle is engagable at the forward end aft positions for commanding velocity hold and for permitting reposition of the handle to the neutral location for resetting power command functions.

  • Patent number: 4268783
Abstract: A microprocessor-based controller for a stepper motor driven machine tool compensation system is disclosed. The step pulses for the motor are stored in the controller firmware as a table of numbers, each number representing the time elapsing from one motor step command to the next, thus enabling precise generation of the desired motor velocity versus time characteristic. The controller additionally interprets compensation system command inputs, drives a system display unit, and activates appropriate output status signals to the compensation system and machine tool apparatus. The controller is capable of detecting impending commercial power failure and protecting, via battery back-up power, its volatile random access memory.

  • Patent number: 4224628
Abstract: A general purpose, microprocessor-based printer utilizing a thermal printhead graphic dot matrix features the capability of accepting either digital or analog data from a host system or device and or printing in either data logging, textual, or strip chart recorder format. In addition to preprogrammed alphanumeric character sets, the printer controller can print any symbol or shape adaptable to a dot matrix that may be specified by data transmitted from the host system. An analog input section of the printer is provided for applications where the host input data values to be graphed are not available in digital form. The analog input section further includes selectable chart paper speed settings, a chart input range selector, zero positioner, and a visual low paper indicator.

  • Patent number: 4158808
Abstract: A high power source load simulator presents itself to a power meter as a conventional electrical load, but in fact is highly portable and dissipates relatively little power and heat. A current source generates a selectively variable current signal which is characterized by a relatively low, constant voltage. A voltage source generates a selectively variable voltage signal which is phase locked with the current signal and is characterized by a relatively low, constant current. The phase angle between the two signals is selectively variable by means of a phase shift network interposed mediate the voltage and current sources. The current and voltage signals are impressed upon the current and voltage sensing inputs of a power monitor via jumper cables. An AGC circuit is also interposed between the voltage and current sources to insure the amplitude independence of their respective signals.

  • Patent number: 4096436
Abstract: A power monitor including a high power shunt connected in series with an electrical load to develop a signal proportional to current which is then modulated. A second signal proportional to the voltage across the load is developed by a voltage divider network. The two signals are applied as inputs to an electronic multiplier which produces a modulated output signal which is proportional to the power being dissipated by the load. The ouput signal from the multiplier is fed through an isolation transformer which passes the modulated power signal, but blocks the high load voltage. The power signal is then demodulated, filtered and displayed digitally on a meter. This signal is also provided as an analog output. An oscillator synchronizes both the demodulator and modulator, the oscillator drive of the modulator being isolated.
