    Assignee: Atochem North America, Inc.
Inventors: William A. Larkin, Robert C. Ringwood, Matthew T. Stershic
  • Patent number: 4418169
Abstract: Polyvinyl chloride polymers are made more heat degradation resistant by the incorporation of a diorganotin salt of an unsaturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid ester and a hindered phenolic antioxidant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 4, 1962

  • Patent number: 4183846
Abstract: In accordance with certain of its aspects, this invention relates to stabilizing compositions; to stabilized polymers; and to the process for preparing a novel halogen-containing polymer stabilized against the deteriorative effect of heat which comprises adding to a halogen-containing resin a stabilizing amount of: a first stabilizer having the formula RSn(SR').sub.3 wherein R is selected from the group consisting of methyl, butyl and octyl radicals and R' is a residue of a carboxylic acid ester derived from acetic or propionic acid and a monohydric alcohol containing between 8 and 12 carbon atoms or a dodecyl hydrocarbon radical; and a second stabilizer of the formula R".sub.2 Sn.dbd.S wherein R" represents a monovalent hydrocarbon radical selected from the group consisting of methyl and butyl radicals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 10, 1971
Date of Patent: January 15, 1980
    Assignee: M&T Chemicals Inc.
Inventors: William A. Larkin, Robert C. Ringwood, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4010138
Abstract: The heat stability imparted to plasticized vinyl chloride polymers by di- or triesters of phosphorous acid is significantly increased by the addition of 0.1-1% by weight of specified organotin compounds to the polymer composition. The concentration of organotin compound is between 3 and 45%, based on the combined weight of the phosphorous acid ester and organotin compound.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 6, 1974
Date of Patent: March 1, 1977
    Assignee: M & T Chemicals Inc.
Inventors: Adam J. Ejk, Robert C. Ringwood, Jr.
  • Patent number: 3933741
Abstract: The heat stability imparted to vinyl polymers by a given concentration of certain sulfur-containing organotin compounds is not adversely affected with respect to either long term stability or delay in appearance of initial discoloration when a portion of the sulfur-containing organotin compound is replaced by certain less effective organotin stabilizers, including tetraorganotin compounds and diorganotin carboxylates.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 17, 1974
Date of Patent: January 20, 1976
    Assignee: M & T Chemicals Inc.
Inventors: William A. Larkin, Robert C. Ringwood, Jr.
