Abstract: A water filter assembly mounted to an inner surface of a refrigerator and accessible from within a refrigeration compartment of the refrigerator. The filter assembly includes a first housing part, a second housing part, and a replaceable filter cartridge. The first and second housing parts cooperate to define a fluid-tight chamber for receipt of the filter cartridge. The first housing part includes an inlet port through which unfiltered water may be introduced into the chamber and an outlet port through which filtered water may exit the chamber. The second housing part surrounds a portion of the first housing part and provides a volume sufficient to hold the filter cartridge and any water within the chamber when the second housing part is released from the first housing part to replace the filter cartridge, and thereby prevents or minimizes spillage of water from the filter assembly during filter cartridge replacement.

Abstract: A forceps having replaceable tips is shown. A handle is provided which releasably receives a small forceps, the small forceps being retained by means of a spring biased tongue which engages an aperture in the small forceps. The handle is longitudinally bifurcated, with each half overlying one of the legs of the small forceps.

Abstract: Successive pouches severed from the leading end of a continuously moving strip of pouches are picked up by a series of spaced paddle assemblies and are turned from edgewise positions to broadwise positions. Each paddle assembly ducks into the pouch to pick up and turn the pouch and opens the pouch just prior to turning it to a broadwise position. Thereafter, the paddle assemblies release the pouches to carriers which advance the pouches through filling and closing stations. The carriers are more closely spaced than the paddle assemblies and are advanced at a slower rate than the paddle assemblies.

Abstract: Flexible pouches are advanced continuously around an arcuate path and are filled with food chunks during the advance. A filling apparatus initially deposits the food chunks into metal containers which are circulated to a continuously rotating turret adapted to move the containers around the path in vertical registry with the pouches. As the containers are advanced by the turret, plungers force the food product out of the containers, through funnels and into the pouches. The empty containers then are removed from the turret and are returned to the filling apparatus.

Abstract: Pouches are advanced broadwise by carriers each having two laterally spaced clamps for gripping the side margins of the pouch. The clamps are supported by pivoted linkages which enable the clamps to be moved laterally toward and away from one another for the purpose of opening and closing the mouth of the pouch as the pouch is advanced through the filling and top sealing stations of a packaging machine.

Abstract: Pattern envelopes or like flat articles retained in stack configuration by elements engaging marginal portions of the lead article are withdrawn substantially in such flat condition by displacing the lead article in its entirety in a manner spacing at least one lead article marginal portion from its associated retaining element and then displacing the same outwardly of the stack spacedly from the retaining element. Further outward displacement of the withdrawn marginal portion effects sequential withdrawal of the other marginal portion from the stack.
