  • Patent number: 5753337
Abstract: A method of making a biplanar net structure usable to provide reinforcement in civil engineering and/or landfill applications by extruding first and second linear arrays of plastic filaments into first and second sets of spaced-apart grooves provided in a filament receiving member. The grooves of the respective sets cross each other, and the plastic filaments bond to each other at the crossing points to provide a biplanar net structure. The net structure then is uniaxially or biaxially stretched. The apparatus employed to carry out the method and the oriented biplanar net structures also form a part of this invention.

  • Patent number: 4741442
Abstract: Diamond configuration plastic netting for palletized loads. A pallet load wrapped with at least one continuous length of plastic netting having one set of spaced substantially parallel strands extending at an angle of less than 90 degrees upwardly with respect to the longitudinal direction and a second set of spaced substantially parallel strands overlying the first set and extending at an angle of less than 90 degrees downwardly with respect to the longitudinal direction of the netting length. The strands are joined at the intersections thereof and provide a diamond-like configuration to the netting, the netting being so positioned relative to the load such that all the netting strands are subjected to approximately equal tension.

  • Patent number: 4402409
Abstract: A remarkably superior plastic netting for use in palletized loads is disclosed. The plastic netting is composed of linear low density polyethylene. The netting is molecularly oriented by a minimum factor of 4 in the longitudinal direction. The resulting netting is highly desirable for use in the wrapping of palletized loads since it is relatively inexpensive, lightweight, strong, and has a low degree of permanent stretch coupled with a relatively high degree of elastic stretch.

  • Patent number: 4272468
Abstract: A method for reducing the aging period of foams produced using a gaseous expansion agent is disclosed which includes biaxial orientation of the thermoplastic polymer foam. The foam is cooled after it is extruded and blown up from a tubular die, the cooling being to a temperature at least 40.degree. C. below its melting point. Thereafter, the foam is biaxially oriented to a dimension at least 25% greater in both radial and axial directions than the dimensions of the extruded, blown up, cooled foam.

  • Patent number: 4150077
Abstract: Apparatus and method are disclosed for reducing the aging period of foams produced using a gaseous expansion agent. In accordance with the present invention the aging period for these foams is substantially reduced by subjecting the foam to pressure by a gas which is essentially inert with respect to the foam.

  • Patent number: 4089818
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention the aging period for low density polyethylene foam is substantially reduced by forming the foam from at least two different resins having different melt indexes which are blended together.
