  • Patent number: 4077479
Abstract: A cultivator including a plow in which a pair of sweeps extend outwardly and downwardly from a plow shank for pushing soil outward from the center of the plow has at least one of the sweeps provided with a vertical vane at an outer end portion thereof for preventing any weed seeded soil from being placed on a herbicide banded area adjacent the path of the cultivator. Where each sweep is provided with a vertical vane, a rigidifying brace may be provided extending between the vanes.

  • Patent number: 4047326
Abstract: Undesirable vegetation or weeds are destroyed by electrical current conducted therethrough by prolonged contact with electrodes. Internal plant tissues of the vegetation are exposed for electrode contact by removal of electrically resistant external layer portions through abrasion of the plant stems or stalks along a path of movement of the apparatus to reduce the electrical energy requirements for plant destroying purposes.

  • Patent number: 4047577
Abstract: A plow sweep is provided including a shovel body defining a central front to rear extending axis and having a pair of first and second rearwardly divergent blade arms disposed on opposite sides of the central axis and joined at their forward ends along the axis to define a forward apex of the sweep. The arms are transversely rearwardly and upwardly inclined and the rear portion of the apex includes an integral upwardly directed mounting shank portion. The rear end of at least one of the arms terminates in an oppositely forwardly angulated blade-type wing arm. The forward edges of the arms are sharpened and the latter are also transversely rearwardly and upwardly inclined.

  • Patent number: 4026367
Abstract: A plow sweep construction comprising a generally horizontal plate is provided. The plate includes front and rear marginal edges extending longitudinally of the plate and the center portion of the rear marginal edge includes an integral rearwardly and upwardly projecting mounting shank portion spaced substantially centrally intermediate the opposite ends of the plate and provided for attachment to and support from a tool support member. The front marginal edge portion defines a substantially horizontal edge facing forwardly and the, blade member, at least for the most part, is transversely rearwardly and upwardly inclined. The mounting shank portion includes a lower end portion merging smoothly into the longitudinal central portion of the blade member and the lower end portion and the longitudinal central portion of the blade member, including the front marginal portion thereof, being forwardly convex.

  • Patent number: 4024921
Abstract: A plow implement which completely plows and breaks the entire surface of a field being plowed in a single pass. This plow completely pulverizes the soil by means of upright cutting blades on double-opposing moldboard plows and single moldboard plows. Additional single sweeps and deep cutting sub-soiler devices may be provided with the over-all implement.

  • Patent number: 3964263
Abstract: A reciprocating piston engine of the type including a piston reciprocal in a cylinder toward and away from an expansion chamber at one end of the cylinder and also provided with intake and exhaust valves openable and closable in timed sequence with reciprocation of the piston. The valves are closed during the compression and power strokes of the piston and the exhaust valve is opened during the third stroke of the piston toward the expansion chamber. During the fourth stroke of the piston, a readily vaporizable liquid is injected into the expansion chamber under pressure for flashing into a vapor upon being heated by the residue heat of combustion in the expansion chamber and during the fifth and sixth strokes of the piston the exhaust and intake valves, respectively, are open to exhaust the vaporized liquid therefrom and intake a fresh combustible mixture of air and fuel into the expansion chamber and cylinder prior to compression of the mixture on the next stroke of the piston toward the expansion chamber.

  • Patent number: 3956894
Abstract: An expansion chamber is provided and heated heat exchange surfaces are disposed in the expansion chamber. An expandable fluid supply is provided together with structure for selectively admitting the expandable fluid into the chamber in good heat exchange relation with the heat exchange surfaces. Further, energy conversion structure is provided and communicated with the expansion chamber and operable to convert the energy of the fluid expanded in the chamber into mechanical energy.

  • Patent number: 3941130
Abstract: An injection device for a hypodermic syringe including structure for supporting a syringe and projecting the needle of the syringe into a skin tissue area against which a predetermined portion of the injection device has been placed. Also structure is provided for slightly retracting the plunger of the syringe relative to the barrel portion thereof during the projection of the needle of the syringe into the adjacent skin tissue area and further structure is provided for shifting the piston portion of the syringe, relative to the barrel portion thereof, in order to express the liquid contents of the syringe through the needle thereof after the needle has been projected in order to force the needle carried by the barrel portion of the syringe into the adjacent skin tissue.
